It seems presumptuous to review the Hertz Chumash .Is there anything more absurd than the thought of a human being ' reviewing ' the Torah? But I will say something about the commentary of Hertz. It has been with me since my childhood and is with me still. The commentary is deeply intelligent and will strengthen the faith of the believing Jew. It is written with love and reverence for the Holy Text.It is possible to learn all one's life long from this work. Though I use other Chumashes, including the great Hirsch this Chumash will always have a great part in my learning life. I read it every week when I read through the Parsha .No Jewish home should be without it.
