Overview

Despite a happy childhood, successful entrepreneur Addison Fox has always yearned to find her birth mother. And with the unexpected death of her adopted parents comes a renewed determination to fill in the missing pieces of her life—to find her “other” family. But she’s too late.

Burnt-out from past investigations, Randall Talbot is looking for some relief while helping out at his brother’s detective agency. But when Addison Fox walks in, he can’t resist her plea for help—even though the cost is murder.

Addison is the sole survivor of her bloodline—a line that a killer is determined to make extinct. And even if the world-weary Randall has little regard left for life, he may be the only man capable of saving hers.

THE PERFECT VICTIM is awesome. It just got a permanent place on my keeper shelf. This is Ms. Castillo¿s first single title romantic suspense, and she did not disappoint. I was riveted from the moment I started reading the intense prologue until the end of the book. Addison Fox is a strong, believable heroine, who owns a Denver coffee shop, and is searching for her birth parents. Randall Talbot is a burned-out airplane crash investigator for the federal Transportation Department, who¿s on leave for post-traumatic stress disorder, and working for his brother¿s PI firm. Addison and Randall do not get off to a good start as he mistakenly assumes she¿s a prostitute who owes his brother money. It is fortuitous that Randall comes to Addison¿s coffee shop a few weeks later to apologize for his behavior, because he saves her life when a masked assailant tries to kill her. Then he and Addison team up to find out why everyone involved in the search for her birth parents have been systematically murdered. The suspense, action and romance don¿t let up for a moment. Ms. Castillo¿s trademark bad-boy, tormented hero and incredible descriptions, along with sizzling sexual tension, and heart-stopping action are present throughout. Don¿t start this book until you have time to read it straight through, because I guarantee you won¿t want to put it down.

The editing of this book was very poorly done. Misspelling, breaks in words for no reason, not designed for the Nook. Probably a good read but because of the very poor editing it is hard to concentrate. I really am dissappointed as I usually receive well edited good quality Nook books.

Linda Castillo is a fantastic author, and this is a wonderful book. It's just a shame that it appears to have been edited by a five year old. Great book. Editing job sucks.

I love all of Lindas books, but not happy with the poor grammer or spelling errors, it gets annoying.

The Perfect Victim is a great read for those who love the 'woman in jeopardy' genre. Ms. Castillo is a talented storyteller whose characters live and breathe on the page. Her fast paced style keeps the plot moving and the people in it interesting. They tell the story, not the author. Her blend of snide comedic by-play mixed with romantic undertones snares the reader to the next page. This is one of the few novels that lives up to the 'sizzling sex' tag. Ms. Castillo has a bright future as a novelist who knows how to write stories people will want to read

I loved this book! It only took me alittle over a day to finish because once I started, I just couldn't put it down. How Colleen Stan managed to emerge from this hell even half-way sane, I just don't know. She is a true survivor. And for those who think her story is impossible, read the book. It is possible and I have no problem believing it at all. I am a true crime lover, so I love this type of story, and I recommend this book to anyone, especially if you like true crime stories. It is alittle graphic, but personally, I didn't think it was that bad and most readers can more than handle the story. If you get the chance, read this story, you will be amazed!

This book was excellent. I had trouble putting it down. It had a little bit of everything---murder, suspense and a decent love story intertwined. I would highly recommend.

I agree that the spacing of the book is off but that does not distract from the story maybe its the fault of the people or person who formats it for e readers otherwise a good book

The premise here is a great story and moves along well. Numerous grammar and spelling errors were a distraction for me (but I will admit, I am a proof reader by nature and self-admitted grammar nazi) The only downside to this story, for me, was that the sexual tension and attraction was written like a Harlequin Romance - too much said in "non-pornographic" was and not enough left to the imagination. As a frequent murder/mystery reader - I use inferences and imagination to work my way through the story. A simple smoldering look and biting of the lip will lead me to a better place than 3 sentences of the hottest little body he has ever seen and how much he wants to be inside her, etc. The latter seems overdone. Overall, I enjoyed this story and it's twists :)

This book was wonderful. The people were real with real problems (not perfect people in a perfect world). The authors writting pulls you from the very begining and doesn't let go until the very last word. Linda is now on my auto buy list.
