Overview

From award-winning author V.K. Sykes, three steamy, full-length romances about three sexy sports heroes and the women who challenge them at the game of love.
Book 1: FASTBALL
Baseball reporter Maddie Leclair has spent years chasing her dream job—covering the Philadelphia Patriots major league baseball team. But in order to make it to the top tier of sports reporting, she needs to score an interview with the most private and elusive athlete in baseball, Patriots’ superstar Jake Miller.
On the rebound from a devastating injury, the last thing Jake needs is a pushy female reporter distracting him. But one look at Maddie and he finds himself trying for a different kind of play, one that involves bedrooms and not baseball stats. Sleeping together could damage both their careers, and Maddie is all about saying no. But when it comes to the game of love, Jake is playing to win.
Book 2: HARDBALL
Winner of The Kindle Book Review Best Indie Books of 2012 Contest
After years of hard work, Dr. Holly Bell has finally landed a position as a cardiac surgeon at a prestigious children’s hospital in Philadelphia. She’s always been about her dedication to work, and she’s not letting anything or anyone get in her way. And a hot affair with a superstar athlete is most definitely getting in Holly’s way.
Nate Carter, star pitcher for the Philadelphia Patriots, is at the height of his game, with a great career and the most gorgeous women in town in full pursuit. Nate has everything he wants, or at least he thinks he does, until he meets the beautiful and brainy Dr. Holly Bell. He’s totally up for a hot affair, and Holly turns out to be the hottest.
But when the lovely doctor starts changing the rules, Nate realizes he just might be playing for keeps.
Book 3: BIGGER THAN BECKHAM
Sports journalist Martha Winston’s life goes sideways when she inherits a Florida soccer team from her father. The team is almost bankrupt and on the skids, but Martha has vowed to save her beloved father’s legacy. But she needs to get a financial infusion fast, or else lose the team to the wolves baying at her door.
Former British soccer hero Tony Branch wants to add Martha’s team to his growing sports empire. But he wants it strictly on his terms—full control, not a partnership. When Martha turns him down flat, he’s determined to change her mind by any means necessary. If that includes using the sexual heat flaring between them, Tony is more than willing to play a game of seduction.

Meet the Author

Randy excels at plot and characterization, but tends to fall down on the job when it comes to that pesky old thing called emotion. That's where Vanessa steps in. She usually writes the sex scenes too, since Randy is a bit uncomfortable when it comes to that sort of stuff. Vanessa also writes Regency-set historical romance for Kensington Zebra under her own name. You can find V.K. on the web at and Vanessa at

I would really appreciate it if ppl would actually review a book

I would really appreciate it if ppl would actually review a book rather than have a conversation when rating a book!
How is a person supposed to consider buying a book?!
I personally like to read reviews to determine if I want to spend my hard earned money. I realize that I am doing the
same thing but this is for u ppl having those conversations to know that ur conversation again is just not needed
    When rating a book!!!

    Loved this series

the stories are real and the people are likable. Somewhat predictable in format but easy to read and holds your attention. I never thought baseball could be so arousing. Plenty of sex scenes but they are well done and don't take over the story completely.
    Recommend for mature audiences.

    Started good and deflated

This series started good but kept deflating. The first book was good (4 stars), the second went down to 3 stars, and the third was simply a drag to finish. The main problem is that the stories dragged at times (especially in the last one, I ended up skimming pages at a time). There was some suspense in the first two that made the stories a bitmore engaging, but book 3 was flat and even the romance was plain. I am not the type that quits on a book, but book 3 was a test of endurance for me! Not worth the money.

    Good read

This was a perfect end to a wonderful trilogy. Three sisters who love each other unconditionally, each with unique personalities and lives. I enjoyed how their love for each other, as well as horses, keeps their family together even through some sticky situations. Romance finds them with interesting men of their own that they each have to overcome some kind of emotional fear before they can move on with a deep relationship . I've read the series twice and will probably read it again.

I've only read 2 of the 3 books so far (and haven't even finished the 2nd book), but I am LOVING this series!! The romances are based on situations that can actually happen (what a concept!) and you actually get inside the characters' heads. I've read better sex scenes, but I've certainly read much worse - enough to tempt you & get you thinking, but doesn't go overboard. Highly highly recommend - in fact, I already have!

    Absolutely fantastic series!

This series was one I couldnt put down. All three were full length and excellent. The sparks between all three couples were awesome. Their conflicts made for great reading. The friendships between Jake, Nate and Martha were an added bonus. I just went and bought the other two books by this aurhor.

    Loved this Three Book Set

These books were simply "the best"... Just enough of everything to keep me glued to my chair... Great love stories, just the right amount of suspense and great characters, great stories and quite different than your average romance... Talented writing and little or no "fluff"... Stories all moved right along and I really had a hard time putting my Nook down... Truly sad last night when I finished book three... I love books that draw me into the story and make me feel as if I am part of the excitement... All three of these stories grabbed my emotions tightly... If you are turned off by the sports theme don't be... The writing is so clever that you won't even think about the sports backdrop... Read and enjoy!!!
