About the Author

Franz Liszt (1811–86) was a composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, and teacher. Acclaimed by his contemporaries as the most technically advanced pianist of his age, he was also a benefactor to other composers and performers, notably Wagner, Berlioz, Saint-Saëns, Grieg, and Borodin.
