One of our favorite places to eat over the years has been The Pie Place Café. Whenever we went to Grand Marais, MN, we had to stop for their wonderful breakfasts or their ribs or sometimes just a piece of pie. The breakfasts are definitely the best on the North Shore and their pies are melt-in-your mouth delicious. Kathy and all of the family at the Pie Place always had a warm hug for all that came in and made one feel like you were their best friends. We enjoyed hearing about her progress while writing the book and when it finally was published, we were one of the first to get a copy. It did not disappoint. The wonderful stories of the family and the customer/friends they have made over the years were warm, touching and so much fun to read. I was delighted that recipes for so many of the wonderful dishes we have enjoyed over the years are in the book and hearing the stories behind them made them even more special. Kudos to Kathy Rice for this beautifully written cookbook. I enjoyed every minute of it! Cheryl A

For as many years as I can remember, the Pie Place has been THE place for the best pie in the Midwest (and that's saying a lot), as well as creative meals with fresh ingredients. I was so glad when Kathy decided to share some great Pie Place recipes (and stories) in this cookbook.
