From Barnes & Noble

Ree Drummond launched her Pioneer Woman blog in 2006, but it was almost year before she found the confidence to publish her first recipe. What began as a steak tutorial became an internet, and then a book and Food Network sensation, and now Ree is back with her first year-round holiday cookbook. As her blogging devotees already suspected, this prettily package hardcover contains not only a full bounty of recipes for holiday gatherings and family meals; but also the step-by-step photos that have helped make Drummond such an online favorite. A Year of Holiday helps you through all four seasons with everything from breakfast and brunches to lunches, dinner, parties, and feasts.

By far the best cookbook I have ever owned, and believe me, I own them all. It is beautifully designed, written and photographed. The instructions are divinely simple and straightforward. I not only can't wait to try the Thanksgiving recipes(I will be trying many of them this year!), I also look forward to a 2014 full of celebrations with the recipes from this book! It is a book I know I will go to for years and years to come. Thank you, Ree!!!

    Helpful and Entertaining

Preparing food for the holidays can be a daunting task. Author/blogger Ree Drummond makes it easier this year with her new cookbook, THE PIONEER WOMAN COOKS: A YEAR OF HOLIDAYS. In this exquisitely designed hardcover cookbook, Drummond shares 140 step-by-step recipes to celebrate every holiday from New Year’s Day all the way through to New Year’s Eve. It’s divided into holiday sections including recipes for the traditional, as well as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and the Big Game among others. Many of the sections also highlight easy Do-Ahead Game Plans to make preparing the meal easier and less stressful the day of the festivities. The cookbook not only gives simple step-by-step instructions on how to prepare the dish, but also includes photos for each step. The stunning color photos makes the recipes easier to follow and see how the dish should look as it evolves, as well as the end result. The no-hassle instructions are simple making cooking a fun activity. The book include such tasty recipes as Red Velvet Pancakes, Cheddar Chive Biscuits, Mummy Dogs, Soul Sweet ‘Taters, Yorkshire Pudding, and Toasted Ravioli. In addition, there are simple recipes for yummy dishes using holiday leftovers. While the recipes are featured as holiday dishes, with their easy preparation they can be enjoyed throughout the year. Woven throughout the recipes are charming photos of the author and her family, as well as showing life on their ranch. This cookbook not only serves to provide delicious recipes and easy instructions, but also delivers a feel of sharing with friends and family. This charming cookbook brings the warmth of family and the fun of holidays to life. Holidays are a time for family, friends and sharing delicious food. Gatherings to celebrate these special occasions just got easier with THE PIONEER WOMAN COOKS: A YEAR OF HOLIDAYS FTC Full Disclosure - This book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Can't read except on Nook device only

Really bummed as I have nook app on phone, ipod and ipad but it won't open on anything but nook. Need to make it work on other devices or I won't purchase this kind of content, would have been nice to know ahead of time that it won't work with android or apple nook apps :/

First, I would like to say that I enjoy Ree Drummond. However, I was very disappointed with this book. There were a few good recipes in the book but overall many of the 'recipes' weren't really recipes at all, such as: Eight Layer Dip, Egg Salad, Krispy Eggs (these are Rice Krispy Treats, folks ; yep, plain Rice Krispy Treats) and many other very plain things that the majority of people that cook even a little bit don't need yet another recipe for (or even one at all). A hamburger bar? Yep, that took up 3 full pages. So many other recipes that are all over Pinterest right now. It IS a beautiful cookbook, just lacks substance of any kind. My advise is go admire the photographs in a book store then purchase something else with recipes you would like to have. Sorry :( Like I said, I really like Ree and will still try other cookbooks from her in the future, I just won't preorder - I will wait to actually see it first.

My rating is not applicable to the hardcover edition. I just want to say I have previously ordered Nook Books stating they are "Enhanced" or "Page Perfect" and they do not work with my Nook HD or HD+. I have contacted B&N about this problem. They reimbursed me for the costs and stated they, too, had tested the Nook editions and they did not work. I guess we have to keep reminding them about the problem.

Highly Recommended - Check it out!

Yes, we all purchase "Cookbooks" for the recipes; however, this reads like a great letter from your sister or best friend. The pictures are wicked awesome and the side stories of family and friends, are warm, loving and at times hysterical. Delicious with easy to read and follow recipes. I'm excited to serve some of her recipes (no matter what holiday they are under) for Thanksgiving!

    Cook

I like the book but i have on the nook reader and it locks up on mine. I also have a ipad and it does not support this book so i can not view book there. I like the step by step instructions. I grew up on a farm in michigan and her program reminds of the way i grew up even though i grew up in michigan.

Highly Recommended - A Must Have

Her photos are terrific, taking you step by step through each dish. No other cookbooks do this and it is wonderful! She cooks the way I cook. No thing too fancy ... just down to earth and FULL of flavor. Did I say FULL of flavor?!! I love the tidbits about her family. Thank goodness I have found someone who is not all about being fancy ... simply GOOD home cooking with all the tips and hints. LOVE it!!

I bought this cookbook for my nine year old niece who recently discovered The Pioneer Woman on Food Network. The step by step
directions and photos of each step make it easier for her to complete the recipes. We have all enjoyed the dishes she's made and
she is blossoming into an enthusiastic and talented chef. This is a great cookbook for beginning and advanced cooks. Ree pours
so much love into her food. And I love all of the old family photos. Sure you could print out the recipes from her blog
or Food Network, but this book compiles the recipes in a beautiful and thoughtful way. It's so nice to go back to the basics and cook simple and delicious dishes.
