Overview

Nancy Herkness invites listeners back to Sanctuary, West Virginia, in Book Three of the award-winning Whisper Horse series.

Fleeing professional scandal and a broken engagement, veterinarian Hannah Linden abandons Chicago for the mountain town of Sanctuary, West Virginia, hoping to put her troubles with men and the media behind her. But when she encounters world-famous chef Adam Bosch, she finds herself increasingly drawn to the charming but darkly complex man and his troubled teenage son, Matt. Adam, a recovering alcoholic, fears he can never be a worthy father to the surly, distant boy he has just come to know, and enlists Hannah’s help in his struggle to connect with his son.

Hoping to coax Matt out of his shell, Hannah introduces the boy to an ailing brown pony who has the power to change his view of the world. But can the determined little whisper horse prove to Hannah, Adam, and Matt that they were meant to be a family?

Not only is the cover beautiful and enticing it’s very appropriate for this story that takes place in Sanctuary, West Virginia.  Hannah Linden is the new vet that Dr. Tom Arbuckle hired to work in his practice so he would be able to spend more time with his wife Claire and travel some.  Hannah left a professional scandal and a broken engagement behind and is down with men. Adam Bosch is a handsome famous chef and owner of the Aerie Restraunt on top of the Two Creek Mountain.  Trace, Adams ex police dog has been shot and Adam was surprised that Dr. Tom wasn’t available to care for Trace.   Hannah’s attraction to Adam has her agreeing to a day with his troubled teenage son Matt as an assistant of sorts at the office with the hopes of Matt realizing that animals are living beings! Matt is fighting his own demons after loosing his mother and now being forced to live with a father he’s never known.  Out of a bit of jealously Matt had let Trace out without a leash, during hunting season and the result was Trace had been shot.   Hannah is headed to the Healing Springs Stables  with Matt.  Thinking maybe Matt could a whisper horse of his own to confide in.  An ailing Pony named Satchmo has a connection instantly with Matt. A deep friendship develops and Matt begins to open up; but then Satchmo takes a turn for the worse.   Satchmo must eat and Adam's son is hurting - Adam does the only thing he knows how to; he prepares a gourmet offering for Satchmo by mixing the feed to perfection! To his relief Satchmo starts to eat…   The attraction between Hannah and Adam grows and the love Hannah feels for Matt is overwhelming.   These characters  have some healing of their own to work through.  With a supportive caring community and friends whom  we all would love to have. Hannah, Adam and Matt overcome their fears, learn to trust in themselves and others with the help of one smart little Whisper Pony.
