It’s the year 2150 and the exotically beautiful Chandra Jarvis is jogging in Golden Gate Park, when suddenly she is catapulted into a parallel universe to a bygone era: the Old West. Fortunately, her futuristic suit of special fibers and a personal computer chip implant come with her, as she will need every available advantage to survive on the Oregon Trail of 1850. Leaving behind her somewhat labile, sheltered, electronic dream life, she is thrust into rash encounters with all the people, grit, and danger of that time. She experiences the gamut of emotions, from love to heartache, to comfort and fear, establishing true and lasting friendships along the way.

Will she ever be able to return home? Can she ultimately accustom herself to the ways of the west and find a new direction for her life? Meet the Author

I was born in a little town in Southeastern Wyoming, I retired in 2006 and missing the sunsets, beautiful clouds, and the breathtaking views of far horizons I returned to my roots and began writing. My hobbies are eclectic reading, playing the guitar, singing (until a few years ago), amateur astronomy, and writing.

I am the father of two children and the grandfather of five on my biological side, and have four stepchildren and fifteen step-grandchildren. I currently live in Southwestern Wyoming on five acres with my wife.

I enjoyed the interactions between Chandra and Sugar (Chandra's embedded AI). They were the best (and best written) part of the book. I also thought the story was a cool idea overall and was excited to read it based on the description, but my excitement faded pretty quickly. While the overall story was really good, the way it was written wasn't.

Okay, so, first -- spelling, grammar, writing level all good. Excellent, even. But the dialogue between Chandra and Sean was incredibly stilted -- seriously, a person from the future and a person from the past talk exactly like each other (basically like an English teacher who speaks like he or she would write?). So, that was just annoying. Plus, there were so many info dumps that it was ridiculous. I think there was like three pages of Sean explaining the history and usage of a particular gun at one point. Not only did it go on forever, but it wasn't even really that pertinent to the story. I ended up skimming a lot.

I am giving a three instead of a two because of the concept, which was great. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this book.  There are villains to boo and the heroine improves the lives of her friends in unique ways .  The romance is great and we learn a lot about the old west as Chandra learns about her new world.  I look forward to her further adventures

Typically, time travel romances involve women, sometimes men who travel involuntarily into the medieval past where they meet, fall in love and share adventures with a heroic knight or noble lady. This novel is different in that the time period is the Old West along the Oregon Trail where the heroine and trekking pioneers come vividly alive in their struggles to cope with the grit and dangers they encounter along the Oregon Trail. I came to care about the heroine, the man she meets and comes to love, and the people she travels with because their trials and struggles are, in my opinion, described so realistically. If you like time travel romances with unexpected and surprising twists, then you'll love  this book!
