The book does exactly what the title says. It tells you how to start your business within a budget.
Carol writing is easy to read and to the point. She doesn't talk over your head, neither does she treat you like you don't know what your doing.
She covers the whole spectrum of starting a business, right from doing market research up to paying your taxes, and everything in between.
What I like about this book is that it covers all possibilities, from online businesses to brick-and-mortar shops; from service providers to manufacturers.
Everybody who has ever thought of starting out on their own, will benefit from reading this book.If your are thinking of starting a business, don't do it without this book.

Clear, comprehensive and easy to understand. This is the kind of common sense guide that you need when you are starting a business. Ms. Tice has written a comprehensive road map for those who want to start their own business. After 25 years in executive management, I find her advice to be on target and invaluable. Great Job!

This is a must read for anyone starting or considering starting a business. Even if you are operating a small business now, as I am, the tips and advice Carol shares will help you stay in business after others have failed. The book includes case studies, practical tips, and valuable common sense ideas for success - debt free.
Carol works hard to make her advice easy to implement. The last chapter of the book includes a resource list including every source she mentions and recommends. Clearly she is motivated by a desire to help others grow successful businesses without the debt load that limits business growth and profitability. I highly recommend this book!!

Carol Tice is a great writer and, even better, a great researcher. Her book includes tons of case studies that illustrate her tips for building a successful business, which in turn offer aspiring entrepreneurs more ideas on how to bring that success into their own ventures. Whether you're a small business owner in need of some low-cost assistance, or a wannabe bootstrapper, this is an excellent book to help get you started on the road to a well-built business - without all the debt.
Additionally, this is a very 21st century guide, with talk of food trucks, coworking spaces, and other options that have sprung up in the past few years for the enterprising but thrifty "solopreneur" or single-person business owner. Covering a wide variety of industries, the book is geared more towards the beginner searching for a niche, but it's also perfect for those who have figured out their market and need ideas about how to tweak their revenue streams, advertising budgets, or overhead costs in the first few years of business.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to start their own business and achieve their own success.

This little book is about some very serious topics and takes them seriously. The author is very thorough and brings in some good human interest examples to help. It would have been easier to read if there had been some form of illustrations. No new entrepreneur should let that deter them from studying the wisdom within it.Was this review helpful?
