The storyline is so disturbing at times that you want to put it down, but you can't. In the end, you will be so glad that you stuck with the characters and came to know their entire stories. Bryce Courtenay is a thorough writer who does not skimp on details. The Potato Factory takes its reader through a time in history that is not always at the forefront of basic history lessons. In doing so, it makes you feel blessed for the lives we are able to lead today.

English/Austratian novel based on evicted criminals from Great Britian during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century for petty to severe crimes. Ikey Solomon, the prince of thieves, teaches a lesson in business and organized crime. This book relates to history, business, geography, and common street smarts.
