Overview

The Potty Book--consisting of a "Henry" version for little boys, and a "Hannah" version for little girls--has been a very popular seller, as well as a godsend to moms and dads, ever since Barron's first published it a few seasons ago. Now, the humorous potty-training stories of Hannah and Henry are each being reintroduced in an attractive package that includes a matching Hannah or Henry cloth doll, complete with a miniature potty. Parents of little girls will choose this, the "Hannah" version. Hannah needs to have her diaper changed before she can go out and play. But Mom and Dad have just brought home a big package, and Hannah is anxious to see what's inside. Is it a rocking chair? Or maybe a bed for Teddy bear? No, it's a potty! It's time for Hannah to graduate from her diapers and learn how to use the potty. Toddlers can use the Hannah doll and potty to dramatize the story while Mom or Dad reads it to them.

The reason the nookbook version isn't rated higher is some of the words are cut off by pictures. As I read it to my granddaughter, I have to make up the words for some of the pictures because the next picture "covers-up" some of the words, making it difficult to try to figure out what the author actually wrote. Otherwise the book does a good job introducing children to the idea of using the potty. I like that they included having an accident and that it's ok, and to just keep trying, and that the little girl progresses from diapers, to wanting to stay dry, having accidents, and finally is dry and wearing panties and having fun playing without a diaper on. The illustrations are nice, and my granddaughter has no trouble identifying what is happening in the book just by looking at the illustrations. She knew from the picture that Hannah had an accident on the floor, and in another picture, that she wet her pants because the illustration shows a darkened spot in the pink pants that make them look wet. I'd definitely recommend the print copy and the nook copy would be better if it could be turned where you could view it in landscape mode, that would probably allow you to see all of the words.

Right after reading this book to my two year old daughter, she said,"potty" and ran straight to her potty chair:) She likes me to read this book to her over and over.

I got this book for my 2 year old neice. From the beginning she loved it. My sister read it to her and she carried it around with her everywhere, she wanted to be just like the girl in the book. She started taking off her diaper and asking my sister to potty after the first day. After one week, she was wearing big girl underwear with no accidents. This book is awesome. A fantastic self-esteem builder.

I work in a Toddler Room (18 months - 3 years) and one of our teachers brought in this book along with the same book for boys and the children will request that I read both books (which are the same) back to back time and time again. They LOVE IT! Both books are very popular in my classroom & the children truly enjoy them! I would suggest every toddler have this book!

i have two daughters ages 3 and 1 1/2. They love this book. The potty training experiences in the story is something that they could relate to. My daughter comes to me and tells me to read to her about Hannah, the main character in this book. When she is successful in using her potty sometimes she gives me a big smile and says 'i did it!' just like Hannah did.

For us this is the most enjoyable part of potty training. There is no way we can even go into the bathroom without Hanna - my 2 year old yells for the book every time we even mention going potty. The illistrations are perfect examples for the young mind to grasp, even if the words aren't getting through.

My 2 and a half year old goddaughter is learning to use the potty and when her mom (my best friend) got discouraged I bought this book and now it is my goddaughters favorite book and she no longer needs diapers!!!!

Our daughter is at the begining stages of potty training (just turned 18months) and already this has become her favorite book. This book is written in a way that illustrates potty training well, it is entertaining without talking down to the child. After 2 weeks of reading this she's already taking off her diaper and sitting on the potty!

My daughter had hit a roadblock with potty training, so with the advice of other mothers I bought this book. She loved the book and it helped her want to potty train again. A must have for anyone potty training their toddlers.
