The Powder of Life
In this sequel to the award-winning novel Silver Shoes,* more than a week has passed since sixth-grader Donald Gardner left Germany after confronting an evil sorcerer in the woods. He's back in his Midwestern classroom again, trying hard to adapt to a normal life and fit in.

But on his way home from school, a familiar rabbit missing a pocket watch delivers a grim warning message that his life is still in danger. With orders to find and return the watch, Donald and his friends Jon and Chris begin an incredible new adventure.

A scheduled tour of an impressive, underground FBI facility also unlocks secrets about Oz, our world, and other distant lands, causing friction between the Gardner family, George Clarke, and the agents who seek their help so desperately. While on the tour, they learn of the Powder of Life, a magic substance that gives life to lifeless objects and prolongs it for the living.

Meanwhile, an elderly, sinister caller with supernatural powers takes refuge at a tavern on the outskirts of the German forest. The innkeeper and two travelers are soon trapped by his persuasive spells as they toil ceaselessly to assist him.

The world and everything in it is rapidly changing as Donald and his friends fight to save it.

About the Author

PAUL MILES SCHNEIDER was born in New York City and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. At various times he has been an actor, writer, composer, singer, and arranger. He relocated to the Midwest from Los Angeles, where he spent the first ten years of this century producing and designing DVD/Blu-ray menus and interactive content for Hollywood films and television shows.

"Silver Shoes" is his first novel, and it was selected as a 2010 Kansas Notable Book by the Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library of Kansas. Its sequel, "The Powder of Life," was released in 2012, and a combined/revised edition of both novels was published in 2013, called "The Complete, Incomplete Adventures of Donald Gardner and the Silver Shoes."

In 2014, Paul published a creative nonfiction work, "More Than Tongue Can Tell: The Story of Andrea King and Her Mother Belle McKee," co-authored by 1940s Warner Bros. film star Andrea King.

In 2018, Paul returned to the Land of Oz, publishing the third adventure in his "Silver Shoes" series, called "The Magic Belt."
