Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

McCarthy, a political refugee from Latvia, offers yet another method to rid oneself of old ways of thinking and begin anew. She describes it as transcendence-the state of lifting oneself out of the morass of past hurts and current pain to see the world with fresh eyes. But rather than explain how this state can be achieved, McCarthy relates stories of people in impossible situations who have stopped trying to change others and the situations they encounter and instead transform themselves. While this first book in a projected trilogy contains heartwarming stories, it fails to explain how to apply its lessons. Optional.

    AWARD WINNING & BEAUTIFUL

I think the reviewer just skimmed the book's contents not truly reading the words. This book was so beautiful that I was forced to write the author to thank her for its soul-grabbing contents - a first for me! The author does give advice on how to stay in or leave a relationship; however, they are not written in an "instructional" form.
Auriela has won numerous awards for this book including the National Best Books Award 2008, A Mom's Choice Awards recipient, an honorable mention in the New York City Book Festival Awards, and USA's Best Book Awards Finalist. Well worth the money and will definitely touch your soul in every way and in every chapter. A powerful book!
