The Power of the Wouivre: Fiorenza

A tale of two worlds, bound by time – of adventure, love, friendship, betrayal, and self-discovery.

Medieval Tuscany is a world of strict divisions – class, politics, gender, and religion – where everyone is bound to their place.

Guidaloste degli Orzotti, a young nobleman from 13th-century Siena, has always felt like an outsider. He avoids politics, has no cause to fight for, and loves a servant girl he can never have.

On his 18th birthday, he discovers his noble lineage and sets out to reclaim his family's honour, only to find betrayal, deadly rivalries, and secrets that stain the Orzotti name.

Meanwhile, in 21st century Cornwall, English teen Thomas Ross only cares about surfing – until he discovers a power that lets him slip into Guidaloste's mind, and a mysterious wouivre that binds them.

Can Thomas master the wouivre before ruthless enemies steal it and change both their timelines forever?

Time travel is only experienced by those born in the rare years Halley's Comet lights up the skies.

Thomas Ross is one of them.

In modern day Cornwall, Thomas learns that the time of his birth lets him time travel in his mind. His new ability sends him to medieval Tuscany, where he experiences someone else's life as if it were his own.

That someone is Guidaloste degli Orzotti, who learns his true noble heritage on his 18th birthday, and sets out on a dangerous journey to find his ancestors and uncover his past. However, instead of honour, he unearths a legacy tainted by betrayal, deadly rivals who wish him dead, and shattering secrets that bring embarrassment to the Orzotti lineage.

As Thomas' connection to Guidaloste grows stronger, via a mysterious amulet – a wouivre – he realises that he holds the key to an age-old mystery. But ruthless enemies are watching, eager to harness the wouivre's power for themselves.

Separated by centuries yet bound by fate, the two boys must navigate the dangers of their own timelines while uncovering the truth of the hidden current that links them.

Can Thomas alter Guidaloste's destiny before it's too late?

The Power of Wouivre is a tale of two worlds intertwined through time – filled with adventure, love, betrayal, hidden enemies and unlikely allies. But at its heart, it's a tale of self-discovery, offering a glimpse into a long-forgotten past.

About the Author

Emma Hine has always had a fascination with time travel. Unsurprisingly, she also loves history. After spending time in Tuscany, for her Italian degree, she wanted to further explore Florence before the Renaissance. Thus, Fiorenza was born.

The Power of the Wouivre: Fiorenza is her debut novel. If you want to know what a wouivre is, just ask your search engine 'what is a wouivre.' Most will show you one of Emma's pages, where you can also keep up to date with her progress on the next Power of the Wouivre book (and if not, go to emmahineauthor.com)
