Envy, which appears to be the most destructive of the seven deadly sins, can run rampant throughout a family especially when there are siblings involved. Truly, there is no other relationship like that of sisterhood. There is a stronghold that keeps that love together, but even more so there are sometimes wounds so deep that there is nothing that can mend them.
There is the overbearing sting of sibling rivalry, competition, even resentment, but somewhere underneath all of the apparent problems is a friendship that no amount of pain, emotional issues or obstacles can break. Or is this just some psychological rubbish that we tell ourselves to help us get through life? For example: In the case of Cain and Abel, where one brother kills the other, could there have been any one thing to keep this act from happening.
Jealousy was so deep rooted within the soul of one brother? Could this have just been something meant to happen? Many people use the cliché 'Blood is thicker than water", but is family strong enough to keep loyalty? And just because someone is related to you, does it guarantee they will be an ally to you?
We each have our own dysfunction within our family, but with love, compromise, and communication we pray that even the toughest hearts can soften. Pride will loom large and evil powers may try to conquer your relationship, but when all is said and done, the love that stays is truly the The Powers That Be.
The forces in the world that can build or destroy are The Power of Love, The Power of Hate, The Power of Encouragement and also the Power of Envy. For these five sisters confronting these hidden emotions will either bring them closer or tear them apart.

Not since the movie Soul Food or Waiting to Exhale have I read a more interested book. The story of the 5 sisters will shock, make you angry and most of all make you think. There are lessons on life about this book and most of all, it shows how strong women can be when they need to be. I definitely recommend this book.
