**This novel contains intense sexual situations and mature language. It is intended for an audience at 18+ years of age.**

After finishing design school six months ago, Erin Angelo left her tragic past behind in the States and started a new life in Milan, Italy. Burying the grief, silencing her demons, and living a life without any real attachments has worked well for her so far. But when Erin secures her first real job as a budding clothing designer, her controlled world is shaken to its core by the mysteriously sexy director of the local symphony.

Alek Dostov is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it. He's successful, hot, the son of a millionaire, and women all over the world flock to see one of his performances. For Alek, Erin represents the ultimate challenge: sexy, smart, and unaffected by his charms...or so she thinks. Just like Erin, Alek avoids attachments that leave him emotionally vulnerable. But unlike Erin, his pursuit of all things pleasurable is ruthless.

Knowing how wary they both are concerning any kind of committed relationship, Alek finds a way to pursue Erin, satisfying the intense attraction between them without sacrificing the freedom they both enjoy. Sometimes the deepest passion brings out the darkest emotions. And Erin finds herself completely unprepared for the forbidden world of the young maestro and his truths and even his secrets, as she struggles to deal with her own.

Music, passion, betrayal and forbidden love spun together in one of the most romantic cities in the world.

Erin Angelo suffered more than her share in this life, her father and sister where killed in a car crash and now her mother is in an institution. Somehow, she pulls herself up and graduates from design school then joins forces with Luca & Rafe to start a design house. She has worked tirelessly for 5 years to make this dream happen. They get their big break when "The Maestro", Alek Dostov, chooses them to create the designs for his new symphony production – something new and different that he will be premiering in Florence.

Alek seems to have it all together but as we get to know him we find out that he has many layers and deep down he comes from a broken family with a father that chooses crime to make his living. He has not always made the best decisions but he has worked very hard to change the direction of his life and to build his musical career.

The sparks are there from the first meeting between Erin and Alek. They both hold secrets and at the same time seem to open up new feelings and possibilities for each other. KaSonndra Leigh weaves a tale of love and romance with a twist of the Russian mafia, over bearing mothers and scorned lovers. I had several surprises along the way and found myself sucked in unwilling to put this book down. Excited to see what happens next though this book ends in an ok place, no major cliff hanger here but you know there is more to resolve for everyone. Very well played by the author.

ARC in exchange for an honest review

Dark secrets, music, art and dance fill this book and keep you entertained. There are definitely parts of the book that weren’t needed and felt like filler, but some of the back story definitely made up for that. I would have LOVED to learn more about Alek and Nicholi’s past but maybe KaSonndra will provide that in a novella?

After tragedy strikes Erin’s life she throws herself into creating a career that will surpass everything she ever expected of herself; and succeeds. After graduating from college early Erin finds herself in Milan, fashion capital of the world and this is where Erin plans to make her mark and her type A personality ensures it. It’s all about control, and she plans to never lose control again.

It’s in Milan where she meets world renowned (at the age of 23 mind you) Mestro Aleksandr Dostovsky and his eccentric family.

Alek holds the weight of the world on his shoulders and needs to ensure that his family is ok now and in the future. Running from a dark past he is able to find peace in leading music… and he’s damn good at it. Alek also love’s sex… lot’s of it and it’s drug his mother is all too happy to make sure is filled.

“All a girl really needs is to know she’s the only one”

“Maybe the two of you can help fight each other’s demons”

A Story of Betrayal, Trust and Ultimately Love!

Find this review and more at Lusty Penguin Reviews!

The Prelude, KaSonndra Leigh’s first in The Musical Interlude series, is a satisfyingly passionate new adult contemporary romance. Using alternating first person voice, Leigh masterfully develops two thoroughly entertaining characters, Erin Angelo and Alek Dostov.

After the death of her father and sister, Erin hardens her heart from love, not wanting to be hurt again and pursues a career in clothing design in Milan, Italy. Alek hires Erin’s company to design the clothes for a performance he is putting together. When Alek visits the shop to make sure that the designs will work, Erin in enthralled with the good-looking Russian-American with an accent to die for. Their attraction is instantaneous, but Erin isn’t looking for a relationship, as she is struggling with grief and trust issues in addition to protecting herself from another broken heart. Demonstrating great strength, Erin sees a life coach to help her learn to trust people again. Nevertheless, Erin is unprepared for the way Alek makes her feel. Mentally, Erin battles with two parts of herself, the reckless side and the righteous side. I enjoyed watching Erin’s inner conflict play out. With Alek’s help, Erin finally opens up, reveals her secrets, and discovers love, which is a wonderful sight to see.

The changes in points of view become more interesting when reading from Alek’s point of view, as he is a different kind of character. When he and Erin meet for the first time, he notes the attraction between the two of them but wants nothing more than to play a game to bed the attractive Erin, which made me hesitant to like his character. As he propositions Erin, Alek realizes that she might just be the one for him and changes his game plan, which I was happy to see. The chemistry between them sizzles, and their bedroom play is intense, sexy, and fire-filled. Like Erin, Alek is also harboring secrets. When exposed, they cause this couple major heartache, but the way Alek handles the aftermath and works to get her back is amazing.

Leigh develops a charming supporting cast of characters that add depth to the story while shocking plot twists keep the pages flying by. The Prelude is a story of betrayal, trust, and ultimately love, and with its happy-for-now ending, it leaves the reader eager to visit with these characters again.

I received an eBook copy from the author for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

    Liked it!

The book is between the relationship of Erin and Alek. Erin has lived and work in Italy as a clothing designer for a few years. Luck would have it a big shot, Alek and his company, needs someone to design clothing for their big performance. This is her big break for Black Butterfly Designs, Inc. (loved where she came up with the name...it's a special meaning for her). This story brings to my mind of a title for a TLC album - CrazySexyCool. I know cheesy, but hey it works for me.

Crazy- The first two meetings of Erin and Alek. The second meeting had me giggling. Talk about embarrassing. I think it's crazy that they obviously are attracted to each other but she refuses (of course then their would be no story if she gave in right away), all because she made a promise to herself because of what happened to her in the past.

Sexy- Alek, do I need to say more? Ha! He's was described as Adonis when she first laid eyes on him. If that's not sexy I don't know what is. Anyway, I thought their relationship just oozed sexiness.

Cool- There was a lot of different arts presented in the story- music, singing, clothes designing, and drawing. I thought it was cool that Erin didn't back down to no one. She just an awesome chick. Also for them to battle their own demons. For her, what happened to her family in the past and for him, what happened back in Russia.

There was a lot going on but I thought it all flowed nicely together. I really enjoyed it.

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
The story is told from Erin and Alek point’s of view, I think this was an incredible good idea because I loved how the characters think and how fast it made me drove into the story.
The book started sad and I had tears in my eyes. We meet Erin Angelo in the first pages, she’s at school trying to drawn a man but the sketch it’s turning to be really ugly. She keeps wondering where is Jada, her sister, because she has a bad feeling. After a few moments of this, Erin realizes that her mother is standing in the door frame with some colleagues from her dad’s work, and she has the feeling there aren't any good news for, and she is wright. Her mom tells her that her dad and sister were killed in an accident. As if the problems weren't enough, after five days, wright after the funeral her boyfriend Sam tell’s her he is moving back in London with his mother because his parents are getting divorced. This was the final straw that made her feel terrible, that made her fall and made a her fight at the same time. She lost everything she loved, she lost everyone.
„ You tore open my heart. You made me feel pain when all I wanted to feel was joy. So now, I will remove your power over me. I’ll never kiss anyone or trust in any dream that you can take away from me. I will never believe in you, ever again.”- Erin
After five years Erin is in Milan working for a design company Black Butterfly and she became a devilish person, a snappy women with tendency of controlling everything. She has problems at work, the new dresses came in horrible colors and the new maestro is there waiting to see the designs, and he even captured Erin’s attention. He’s name is Alek Dostov, he is 23 years old and he is incredible good looking, he doesn't waste any time with introduction or anything else, just work. Erin has an asthma attack wright in front of the guy, but he becomes suddenly adoring and helps her out. Erin kind of screws up when she offers to pay the guy too keep it to himself that she has the attacks, and him on the other hand got mad at her. You can sense the tension between these two after they’re first meeting.
Erin tries the best to not fall for Alek but he keeps insisting, and she keeps wondering what he has that turns all these feelings in her. Alek pretends around her that he is the perfect gentleman, the perfect guy, but he has other thoughts about her, he is a true player. The passion between these two it’s consuming. But it’s what made them come together, what made this lonely souls finally find some peace.

The relationship between Erin and Alek it’s hard with all the truth coming out, but Alek showed her that with trust they will win everything! I loved how the story changed, I loved how Alek stood by Erin’s side no matter what, and definitely loved the ending. Perfect to the last point!!! Thank you for the opportunity of reading this magnificent work of art, simple amazing and beautiful! Loved it and can’t wait to read more!! I highly recommend it!

Great book! Liked both of the main characters and where the story goes. I liked the chemistry Erin and Alik had together. I liked how Alik went after what he wanted, and didn't let outside influences deter how he felt. Glad they figured out fairly quickly, that they wanted each other, and started working on their individual and mutual problems together. Liked the little twist and turns in the story. The only thing I would of liked a bit more of was Erin opening up a bit more. Looking forward to other books in this series and by KaSonndra Leigh.

As a huge fan of KaSonndra Leigh's work, when I first started reading The Prelude, I wasn't sure which way she was going to take this story, and was pleasantly surprised with the mix of fashion design and music, and how seamlessly she wove the two together.

Our leading lady Erin Angelo is complex and I was instantly drawn to her and wanted to know more about her back story and what she was running from. Our leading man Alek Dostov starts out being your usual womaniser, however by the end of the story, you are left thinking that maybe he has grown up and realises that there is more to having somebody in your life than just great sex.

Yes there is adult content in this story and I must say that these scenes while sizzling hot were done with taste and care.

The tension that KaSonndra manages to capture between Erin and Alek is extraordinary, and I found myself with a tear rolling down my cheek on more than one occasion.

I must thank KaSonndra for my review copy, and will be looking forward to more stores about Erin, Alek and the whole cast at Black Butterfly Designs.
