As a pediatric speech-language pathologist I am no stranger to kid games and improvising. However, I bought this book to use at home with my 1 1/2 year old. I needed a boost in my ideas and found this book had many things he would like and I could use it for a few years with minor adaptations. It's laid out very easily and I acutally have been dating the activities and journaling some in it for my son. Plan to pass it on to him when he has a toddler. I have the summer off so each day or so I tell my son that we are going to do a 'special activity' and use one of the book activities. I don't use them to 'keep him busy' per se, but more as a special activity that I have created just to do with him. It's amazing how much more he loves that than us playing cars or building with his blocks. It's a neat change for both of us. I would love to collaborate with this author and add various ways to teach your child language, concepts, and articulation skills through these activities! I'm thinking this may be the next preschool gift I buy. Give the child this book (for mom or dad)with a few supplies for the activities my son has liked most! Most of the items are around your home. No deep planning involved and really the ideas are very basic. We have thought of doing some of these before this book however, the thoughts never came to life. Kuffner's book helped motivate me to actually DO the fun activities.

I've been using this book's activities to get closer to my son and they have worked well. Over and over I choose different activities from this book to use with my boy, and most have been successful and turned out well with him. After spending much time with children I thought I knew it all, but since having this book, anyone, even professionals i believe, have something else to learn.
