More About This Book

Overview

"The world needs priests, pastors, today, tomorrow, and always, until the end of time." —- Pope Benedict XVI

Providentially, a key gift that Pope Benedict's pontificate has brought to the Church is his heartfelt concern for her priests welfare. The Holy Father's deep desire to provide support and refreshment for the souls of the clergy has been made abundantly clear in the many speeches, writings, and talks he has directed toward seminarians and priests regarding their vocation.

"Young people . . . need to see the example of a communion of life which can reveal to them the beauty of being a priest."

This collection of excerpts from what Pope Benedict has had to say regarding various aspects of the priestly life is a treasure trove of spiritual knowledge. Among the subjects touched upon:

• It does make sense to become a priest
• Face scandals with frankness, but rejoice in God's gift
• The priesthood is not simply office but sacrament

Each excerpt addresses a specific topic concerning the philosophical and practical issues, followed by the Web address for the entire document in question. And, a follow up question serves as the springboard for personal reflection or group discussion.
