Disney set The Princess & The Frog, its first-ever film with an African-American lead, in New Orleans, and wisely chose Randy Newman as its scorer/songwriter. Newman not only has a long lineage as a film composer, but his music has deep roots in the Big Easy, making him an ideal choice for the project. Both sides surface here, with the score leaning toward lush Hollywood romanticism, leaving the songs as the place for jazz, zydeco, and R&B to play. Delightful Disney soundtrack

Having enjoyed the movie "The Princess and the Frog" very much, I definitely wanted to buy the soundtrack. Listening to the music brought back the scenes of the movie, but the music is fun to listen to on its own. It's a nice addition to have the little booklet with the words of the songs and pictures from the movie, too. One of the charms of many Disney movies has always been a wonderful score, and "The Princess and the Frog" is in that fine tradition.

    Return of Disney Musicals

The Princess and the Frog has some of the best Disney music since Hunchback of Notre Dame. My personal favorite is "Dig A Little Deeper", a toe-tappin', hand clappin',hoot of a gospel song. "Friends on the Other Side" is deliciously dark, something we haven't seen in a Villan Song from Disney since the Lion King's "Be Prepared." Over all, each and every song is memorable and I can never help but sing along whenever I play this awesome music.

A Must-Have For Disney Music Lovers

At first, I was a little disappointed when I heard that Randy Newman had replaced Alan Menken as the film's composer. But then I saw the movie a few weeks ago and I fell in love with Mr. Newman's soundtrack. My favorites are "Ma Belle Evangeline", "Down In New Orleans", "Dig a Little Deeper', and "Never Knew I Needed".

This movie is bursting with life and is just as good as any movie from the "Disney Renaissance" of the 90s. I cannot recommend it - and this soundtrack - enough.

Wonderful soundtrack for a wonderful movie!

Even though The Princess and The Frog has not yet been released (as of November 29, 2009), I can tell the music will be top notch! Must have for any 2D Disney lover, Disney Princess lover, a fan of this movie, or even a lover of jazz tempos!
