Overview

This hilarious and empowering TWO-BOOKS-IN-ONE delivers a one-two punch to PMS! The Princess and the PMS: The Owner's Manual and The Prince and the PMS: The Survival Manual (on the flipside) pack a double-dose of humor, encouragement and cutting-edge advice to anyone who suffers from premenstrual misery. These books answer every question women have about their cycles, and every question men are dying to ask but not willing to die asking!

Alongside real-life anecdotes and belly laughs, the women's side includes a team of best-selling medical, nutritional and alternative medicine experts to balance the "just-between-us-girlfriends" humor with sound advice, while the men's side appeals to shorter attention spans featuring cartoons and bottom-line manly advice on dealing with premenstrual princesses.

The Princess and the PMS offers solutions for every symptom from ankle-swelling to zits. Unlike other PMS guides, while there's strong emphasis on the physical, this book pays real attention to the emotional issues that arise monthly. Whether you're anxious, weepy, grumpy, lose your self-esteem, or find yourself fighting with everyone but the cat, the authors help you find a way out of the sadness and the misery.

You'll nod your head at familiar scenarios, find solace that you're not alone and better yet, you'll find practical strategies to manage the monthly malady. The Princess and the PMS/The Prince and the PMS does double-duty by supplying practical information for both sexes, while tossing in hilarious "time of the month" jokes to get guys onboard, so they'll stop asking stupid questions like, "Would sex make it better?"

Throw it . . . or give it to someone you'll no doubt love again in a few days.

This book is at times amusing, but I find it relies too heavily on cliched man/woman stereotypes and witticisms. If you are fairly well versed in proper body care and nutrition, there isn't a lot that this book can teach you. I did like the idea of charting PMS symptoms, and the chart included in the book for this purpose. Cute book.

Every woman who experiences PMS and every man who loves a woman who experiences PMS absolutely must read this book. Funny, but not cheesy, informative but not overwhelming, this book takes a light-hearted approach with a very prevalent and serious subject!

This book was a Godsend!! To me and my boyfriend!! Finally, he could understand what I go through each month in 'guy terms.' I enjoyed reading the book and being able to relate to pretty much EVERYTHING in it!! I highly recommend this to women with pms!! I shared it with all my friends!!

Finally! an explanation to my complains, mood swings and 'ggrrr' time!! I knew I had PMS before I read the book, but I just could not find a good 'why this happens to me'. This book made me laugh and learn at the same time. I just went to visit my friends in Mexico and some of them have PMS, told them about the book and they are just waiting an spanish version of it!

I recently read The Princess and the PMS as well as the second side: The Prince and the PMS. I enjoyed both angles of the book. It was very informative as well as amusing. The book is well written in a way that keeps your attention but teaches you at the same time. I read both the side for myself and the side for the men. I wanted to know what they were telling my husband before he read it. I passed it along to him and he seems to be taking a long time to read it 'even though it is shorter and more comical'. He is not a reader but when I shared my thoughts with him he opted to share in the experience. He has agreed with what he has read so far and yes ladies he has become a little more sentimental in my time of need. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is a fellow sufferer, or for any girl who has a partner willing to learn about our suffering. I would definitely read these authors again, they are very knowledgeable and make it seem effortless.

This is a funny and informative book! One side of the book is for women, and the opposite side is for men! There are lots of helpful PMS survival tips for both men and women! I would definitely recommend this book to all PMS sufferers! Also, my husband found the guy¿s side of the book both helpful and hilarious!

This book is so funny, yet true! It offers lots of great advice, not just for the female PMS sufferer, but for the all those 'significant others' that cower in the corner 1 week of every month! Not only did it have me and my husband laughing, it helped him to better understand just what is really going on with me during 'That Time', as he likes to call it! Especially funny are the 'Things a Man Should Never Say During PMS' section! The 'Know Thy Enemy:PMS' quiz helped my husband to understand just what kind of monster I turn in to every month! With the help of this book 'especially the 'I of the Storm' section, about relationships', he no longer has to run and hide, and I no longer bite his head off for leaving the toilet seat up! Well, maybe sometimes...

'The Princess and the PMS' is a wonderfully written manual that addresses the many dynamic factors associated with PMS in a comical and comprehensive way. Half of the manual is reserved for the woman while the other is designed with the man in mind. Both sections provide significant information to dealing with, approaching, and living through PMS. The text's language resembles that of a good girl-friend: matter-of-factly, straight to the point, and with authentic sincerity. Both sexes can relate to this dual perspectives manual, and it can even make for a fun way to learn about a part of life that's often misunderstood. Through reading the manual, my boyfriend better understands my needs and is able to identify symptoms appropriately rather than blame every on PMS. I, on the other hand, better understand how I can take care of myself to minimize symptoms through the nutritional intake and biological needs. It's a learning experience through which both sexes can benefit. Highly recommended!

My husband and I read this book together. It was a great way to start conversation because this book is a great mix of fun and facts. There are two parts to this book, one for the ladies and a survival guide for the men. It's a playful approach to a tense subject. I got to hear his perspective on what it's like when I have PMS and how we can both be more aware of how we affect each other. When sharing this book with my female friends, we tried to understand what were our triggers and what calms us best. Overall, this is a fun book with helpful tips and information to handle this uncomfortable time.

I loved 'The Princess and the PMS' for many reasons. It is informative, but not technical. It makes sense and made me laugh. I could see myself (and many other females in my life!) and the advice for handling my PMS was approachable. I did not need to drastically change my life to put this plan into action. Although I am in my 30s (I wish someone would have given it to me in my teenage years), it made the whole topic of PMS more approachable and easier to discuss with friends and family because it has a flavor of humor with information and help. The other side of the book, 'The Prince and the PMS,' gave the men in my life an insiders view of what it was like to have PMS every month with some important survival tips in a funny, light weight manner. The layout and approach is built for all age groups and genders that are touched by PMS every month.

There seem to be a lot of very scholarly books out there (who's got the time?) and on the flipside, there are some publications with outdated info for the layperson that focus on handling PMS in one way (whatever the author's specialty is). I dig this book because it covers all the latest research, breaks everything down into manageable chapters on relationships, food, exercise, supplements, self-care, etc. AND it's got a men's side so they can get a clue about PMS. I'm not 100% convinced yet that this will help me cure a 20 year monthly ailment, but it's the most sensible and humorous approach I've seen yet. Kudos to the various doctors and authors who put this together.

The authors did a great job putting PMS in real life scenarios. It was easy to understand, informative and enjoyable to read. What is great about this book is one side is written for women and the flip side is written for men, but I read both sides and so did my husband. We can now relate to one another on what I go through with PMS and what HE goes through when it is that time of the month. It has definitely opened up the lines of communication between us during that time of the month. Another bonus to the book is it has charts to record women¿s cycles and advice on what to eat and not to eat, supplements and exercises to help relieve some symptoms of PMS, and not let PMS take over your life. The authors did an awesome job in keeping the men¿s attention about PMS with some humors anecdotes and real solutions to help the relationship. Overall, both my husband and I are so happy we found this book. I have even told other newly engaged couples about the help this book has to offer and they are eager to read it to help improve their lines of communications during the PMS time.
