Overview

She’s got the moves. He’s got the heat. Will their hearts catch the rhythm?

Rachel Taylor’s manager has to be kidding. A porn star dancing beside her in her next music video? She didn’t claw her way back from near obscurity in the pop music world only to become a laughingstock all over again.

Yet the moment she meets Lee, a.k.a. the infamous Buck Harder, their chemistry sizzles. There’s much more to the man behind the stage name than the obvious attributes that make him so successful, and soon she’s fantasizing about sharing more than just a stage.

In only a few steps, they find a perfect, dance-floor groove hot enough to melt the camera lens. But when the video’s release blows up in their faces, her record label exercises an obscure but ironclad clause—stay away from each other. Or else.

Meeting in secret seems the most delicious solution. But they can’t hide this kind of heat for long…and when the paparazzi sniff them out, she realizes choosing to stay with the man she’s fallen for could cause her to fall off the pop music map—permanently.

Warning: Let’s just say there’s a reason Buck Harder went into his line of work, and it ain’t his pretty smile. Wink wink.

THE PRINCESS AND THE PORN STAR was funny, sexy and surprisingly sweet. ~ Under the Covers

There were two reasons why I chose to read this book, the first being that it’s written by Lauren Gallagher. I have been meaning to read a book by her for awhile. I am a huge fan of her work as L.A. Witt so I was already familiar with the quality of writing and the larger than life characters that Gallagher/Witt brings to each of her stories.

The second reason I wanted to read this book was because of the title alone – THE PRINCESS AND THE PORN STAR. Now if you’ve read Gallagher before, then you know that her writing contains incredible fun, unique characters. I just knew that this book would be a laugh-out-loud riot and I was right!

Rachel Taylor is an accomplished artist whose latest music video has her dancing up again Buck Harder, the hottest porn star she has come across. While this could be a recipe for disaster, it actually felt like a sweet romantic comedy. Rachel is the princess, but she is by no means egotistical or spoiled. She is so sweet and likeable that Gallagher managed to make me fall in love with her so very early on into the book. As she is struggling to walk in her sky-high heels, you definitely get the sense that despite her superstar status, Rachel is just a sweet girl at heart.

Further assumptions are shattered when Buck Harder aka Lee turns out not to be a cocky, suave hero but a sweet, funny and down-to-earth guy. I LOVED Lee and found his and Rachel’s chemistry to be combustible. Gallagher spends a lot of time on conversation. Her dialogue between characters is so effortless and smooth, it feels so genuine between characters. From that, you definitely get a sense that Lee and Rachel are getting to know each other in a believable pace.

Written in alternating POVs, Gallagher gives readers the best of both worlds. THE PRINCESS AND THE PORN STAR was funny, sexy and surprisingly sweet.

    Tried to like it

I really was intrigued by the premise but it seemed to me that Rachel/Olivia was making all the compromises to be in a relationship with Lee/Buck. Yes, I got it that even if he quit, the media wouldn't forget, EVER. Yeah,I got it that she had to "accept" him as he is for it to work. Guess I just can't wrap my mind around the infidelity of continuing his career. Because no matter how mechanical you try to make it, it is still sharing your body with someone other than the person you profess to love. Men have been using that "just sex" excuse since Homo sapiens began intermingling with Cro-Magnon.
