Editorial Reviews

Dennis Runyan
As a Superintendent of a public school district, and having taught numerous graduate level classes in Educational Leadership, I find this book provides a roadmap for developing leadership traits and values. In the age of educational accountability this is a professional resource for those interested in building a learning culture.
Jacob Chavez
I found this book to be a very good resource for practicing administrators. Your book will provide expertise in a variety of areas; such as preparing, equipping and enabling the administrators and staff for a learning-centered school; the importance of a healthy school environment for fostering student achievement; and how to plan, organize and implement effective programs of collaboration and partnerships to promote student learning.
Lawrence W. Lezotte
Fair or not, principals are the keystone to effective schools. Authors Norton and Kelly have successfully identified and described the essential components that effective learning leaders use to translate their vision into successful student achievement. Current principals would be well served to use The Principal as a Learning Leader to monitor and adjust their own practices. Likewise the book should be a "must read" for aspiring principals passionate about advancing the 'learning for all' mission.
Donald D. Covey
Dr. Norton and Dr. Kelly have captured the true essence of what is required to become a highly effective school principal and instructional leader. Surely, those who read and apply the knowledge and skill sets will enable hundreds of school principals to implement a positive and effective school leaning and working culture resulting with significant increase of student academic progress and advancement.
Donald L. Enz
The knowledge resources and experiences students will need to succeed beyond high school becomes greater each day. This book recognizes the magnitude of this challenge and has established innovative solutions that serve the needs of students. Dr. Larry Kelly and Dr. Scott Norton have provided well-rounded examples to assist leaders with the skills and tools they need to help students meet the demands of our advancing world.
