Overview

The Process of Power: Lao Tzu's Guide to Success, Politics, Governance, and Leadership is a new translation of the Chinese classic The Tao Te Ching. The purpose of this text is to do just what the title says, to provide advice for achieving social, governmental, and corporate success. What distinguishes this translation from all others is that this reading focuses on the meaning on the text rather than merely establishing a word-for-word translation. The result is that this translation of the Tao Te Ching is less vague than most, and thus, much more user friendly to the average reader. This translation is a necessary read for anyone who is in any type of leadership position who wants to be effective, successful, and popular. It is also an excellent resource for students, novices to Taoism, and anyone else who desires to understand the Tao on a deeper, more personal level.

Okay, that may be a bit extreme. Nevertheless, this version of the Tao Te Ching is easy to read and understand. I have been reading various versions of the Tao Te Ching since I discovered Taoism over twenty years ago. Some translations have been okay, but most have been too esoteric to be readily enjoyable and understandable. This version is easy to understand, while keeping to the essence of the text. It is more of a dynamic equivalent, rather than a literal translation. That being said, it is a faithful translation of the Tao Te Ching.
