Meet the Author

Herbert Croly (1869-1930) was intermittently educated at Harvard and went on to hold major editorial posts, first at Architectural Record and later at The New Republic. He is the author of The Promise of American Life, also available from Transaction.

Scott R. Bowman received his graduate training at the University of California at Los Angeles, where he presently teaches political theory and public law. He has served as a consultant on corporate organization and natural resources for the attorney general of the State of California. His dissertation is concerned with legal and political theories of the modern corporation.
