Incredible & Sexy New Contemporary Romance Series!
*ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review
THE PROPOSITION is the first book in Jennifer Lyon's new series The Plus-One Chronicles and I'm already hooked!
After a brutal mugging and vicious attack 6 years ago, Kat Thayne suffers from panic attacks and is scared to trust anyone. Scarred on the inside and out, Kats passion goes into her baking at the Sugar Dancer bakery she owns. She comes from a rich and prestigious background but wants no part of it anymore. Kat's mom and her ex fiance, David are bringing a blockbuster Alzheimer's drug to market--its in the final stages of FDA approval and her parents and David have a very close relationship. Closer than Kat is to her own parents. They don't consider Kat smart enough to be a part of what they are working on but they want her working for their pharmaceutical company. Her parents can't understand why she is wasting her chemistry degree and time in a bakery when she could be working for them. It also doesn't help that they take the side and word of David over hers.
Kat has been having flashbacks of the attack and she knows something is off. The way her fiancé told the story of what happened during the mugging varies from the memories she's been having and he just blows her off by telling her she's just confused from the concussion and memory loss when she tries to get answers. He has her parents believing the same thing so there is no one Kat can trust or confide in. She's tired of being scared and not knowing the truth about what happened.
Sloane Michaels has everything. He's a powerful businessman, a UFC fighter, has lots of money, super good looks, a hot body and he's worked his butt off to get where he is today but he's still not content. He came from a home where his mother jumped from man to man looking for her prince charming to come in and swoop her off her feet but that never happened and Sloane and his sister were left fending for themselves. When his sister is brutally murdered, Sloane's whole life changes. He is taken off the streets by a man that becomes his mentor and helps him focus his rage and hatred into something productive. That's how Sloane started the UFC fighting. It was an outlet for his anger and aggression. Now, the man that murdered his sister is getting out of jail. Sloane has been waiting and training for over a decade for this day to come. Now he can extract the ultimate revenge. He's got it all planned out and nothing or no one will get in his way.
Sloane attends a party and sees Kat hiding in a corner of the room. He knows he's seen her before somewhere, so he approaches her but she does not remember him and leaves to get away from his attentions before she has a panic attack. While Kat is leaving she is attacked in the parking lot and Sloane is there to kick ass and save the girl. And that's when he remembers who she is. He met her when he was 18 years old working as a bus boy at the place Kat's family was throwing her a Sweet 16 party. Sloane HATED Kat back then. She had everything; doting parents, money, a pampered little princess that had everything while he had nothing. He can tell that Kat is not the same person she was back then and he is intrigued by her from the moment he sees her again.
After Sloane saves Kat he pursues her and makes her a proposition. He will train her how to fight and defend herself if she becomes his plus-one; attend galas, parties and events with him as his date. Oh yeah, and have hot & steamy sex with him! Kat is tired of being scared and not having a normal life. She hates the scars on her body and is self conscious about them but she decides it's time to change and take control back of her life.
Sloane and Kat's chemistry is off the charts! You can feel their intense attraction and their time together will leave you sweating. Their stories are both heartbreaking, inspirational and believable. You can't help but love both characters.
Jennifer Lyon has given us another incredible story with characters that will stay with you after you put the book down. You feel Sloane & Kat's happiness, sadness, pain, passion and determination as you read their story and that is the product of great writing. There hasn't been a book yet that Jennifer Lyon has written that I have not loved and I cannot wait to find out more about Kat & Sloane. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes a sexy contemporary romance! I can't wait for May 28 to get here so I can get my hands on POSSESSION, the second book in The Plus One Chronicles.
I give THE PROPOSITION 5 out of 5 skulls

This book starts off with some heart pounding moments. It draws you in and gets you utterly intrigued. As things progress, both characters are compelling, but I really feel that it’s Kat that really gets you connected. Though I have to admit, I was completely enamored with Sloane right from the start, and while I want to see Kat grow, I would love to see him NOT get something he wants!
They made this agreement and I honestly hate it. While I understand it and it’s mutually beneficial in more ways than one, I just hate that they keep things so “casual”. That being said, he treated her as more than casual and the more protective he got, the more endeared I was to him.
I liked this book and am very intrigued to read more, but the way it was ended really bothered me. It felt like the story was just cut off part way through leaving it horribly incomplete. There’s a cliffhanger ending, there’s “open-ended”, and then there’s just…this. Was I left wanting more? Yes, but not in a passionate “I can’t wait for the next installment” kind of way. I was just plain frustrated. With all the buildup of mystery and sexual tension, I just would have appreciated a more definitive close to this book even with another book coming in the series.
This is a story of strength and personal growth as well as great chemistry. Good start to a series, but be prepared to need book 2 immediately upon finishing!

5.0 out of 5 stars RICH, SEXY, EX-UFC FIGHTER. Enough said. F
The first book in Jennifer Lyon's brand new and VERY smexy series, "Plus One Chronicles" is smoking hot! Two characters who have so much hell in their respective pasts find a way to each other. But will it last? Can it last when you don't know how to trust? The first book introduces us to bakery owner, Kat Thayne, daughter of brilliant and sophisticated parents, and - GAhhhhhlicious, Sloane Michaels, who is a retired UFC fighter and billionaire. They strike a tenuous bargain to be each others Plus One. Think friends with benefits. But as Kat's past creeps in, and Sloane becomes more and more possessive, they soon realize they've both signed on for way more than they bargained for!

## Ok, I almost didn't buy this book because of the similar plot to 50 shades. Not that I didn't like 50, it's just hard to measure up to. Well, I'm glad that I tried this book. It was exquisite. At first I thought the heroine was going to be the typical doormat. NOT. She was awesome and became more irresistible as the story progressed. And the hero was drool-worthy to say the least. This book grabbed my attention and never let go. Be aware though, that you will need to buy the other two books for the conclusion (both available and reasonable $). Totally worth it.

This is actually a different story that what the norm is out there at this time. Yes, he's rich, but he wasn't born to it. Yes, she owns a bakery, but the way that came to be is not nearly what you would expect based on her families wealth. Each of their secrets...HOLY CRAP! They certainly are unique. This was a refreshing read, and I really wish that it had been a full novel. Sloane is 6 1/2 feet of hotness - a fighter who owns a training gym empire and develops new talent. Kat survived a brutal attack years ago that left her isolated and alone - a baker and creater at heart, the attack was instrumental in her ultimate career. Sloane and Kat are quite the pair, but compliment each other and each has something the other desperately needs to overcome and survive. I'm sure of it! I'm off to pick up the boxed set now to find out.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Where to begin??? This book was much more than I bargained for. I expected to get an awesome read full of intense power from a superior Alpha male. CHECK! I expected to read some tribulations and struggles that each of the main characters are possessing. CHECK! But what I wasn't ready for was the profound love story that blooms between the two as well as the character that helps to blend their lives and their hearts!!! I laughed, I was smoldering hot and antsy with the love scenes, and I was blown into tears with the final book. This was so worth reading. I was emotionally invested in this book and I wished it wouldn't end. Loved IT! Give it a try.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This book is okay. I was really disappointed becauae it was reccammended by readers of the Up in the Air series. Well, its nothing like that series at all. If you like steamy books, this one isnt it. I dont like point of view it was written from because it makes it difficult to get a good beat on the characters. There was only one sex scene at the end of the book so that was a let down as well. I may but the others, i may not. I dont want to pay more than $.99 on the others and risk further disappointment. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I am shaming myself for having not picked up this book sooner. I saw The Proposition floating around for some time now and I was definitely intrigued but, I had such a long TBR list. I finally had a break and was able to pick this one up and boy I am so happy! Sloane Michaels is my new BBF (book boyfriend forever) and I am so thrilled that there are two more books in this series. I have been a big fan of Jennifer Lyon's since her Wins Slayer Hunters series, so there was no doubt in my mind that this series was going to be just as good. I was completely floored by The Proposition. Some may call if Fifty-esque, and it is to a point but, it is so much more than another FSOG. Jennifer has brought alpha to a new level with Mr. Michaels and has completely captivated me as a reader.
"No one had ever made her feel this.. sensually savored. Worshipped and wanted."
Kat Thayne is a scarred woman. She has experience trauma and confusion and it cost her the life she had settled for. For me it was a terrible experience that Kat had but, I'm beginning to think it may have been the catalyst for amazing things to come her way. Enter Sloane Michaels. The night he lays eyes one Kat he feel a familiar pull to her but, can't place where he has seen her. When she dashes out of the room and follows her and ends up saving her from another attack. Kat refuses to play the "swoony, fall at her saviors feet" card. Instead the strike a deal. Kat will accompany Sloane to any events where a plus one is required/needed and Sloane will teach Kat to defend herself. But these two? I felt like I should be covering my eyes because they just might spontaneously start devouring each other in the middle of a public place. They have an insane amount of chemistry and it is some of the hottest that I have read.
"But she couldn't shake the sensation that Sloane Michaels had been to hell. And he hadn't found his way back."
When Kat and her parents and ex come to blows at her brothers engagement party she is forced to relive parts of her attack and make a choice between Sloane and her family. I can't really say I was surprised by the outcome, once you read more about Kat's past you'll want to applaud her like I did for her composure and courage. I have a feeling these two are going to be the best thing that happened to one another. They have such dark pasts but, they find the light in one another and I can't wait to find out their tribulations and experience their trials. Reader commentary: about halfway in, I really wish she hadn't tapped out :)
