The Psychology of Poker based on 0 ratings. 4 reviews.
Poker is often a battle of wits. If you are going to be a winning poker player, you have to win the psychological warfare. This is a good place to start.
This book offers a strategy for the human element of the poker game. The emphasis is on determining the type of game in which you are playing and the types of players you are playing with, then adapting your overall strategy to beat the game, or perhaps changing games if need be. There is very little discussion of poker hands or basic strategy, with discussion focusing instead on the different types of players and the way they play. The book is adaptable to all variations of poker. The topics are not at all advanced and the book should be accessible to most players (although an overall knowledge of basic strategy would be necessary to get the most from the book). This is great supplemental material for those who are serious about improving their game.
With so many books out there teaching you fundamental play, you need something extra to give you an edge. If you only 'play by the book' you are missing out on a lot of opportunities to succeed.
This book will give you an edge above and beyond card reading, calculating odds, and basic strategies. Anyone can develop these skills and most poker players have. This book will give you insight into the motives of why people play poker and why they play the way they do. You will soon find yourself able to determine someone¿s style of play even if they¿ve never played a game of poker in their life! Highly recommended.
