Overview

Denise, a single mom, has finally met the man of her dreams; one she can settle down with. As a bonus, he is the perfect partner to help her to raise her son, Amir. Bernard loves Denise with all of his heart, and other than his weekend drinking binges, he's a pretty good man. The break up to make up scenario makes it all better and pacifies Denise every time.

Tonya and Gary are dealing with trust in their marriage and must come to terms with major issues that are adversely affecting their family as a whole. Finding their way back to the loving arms of one another has proven to be a difficult task.

Will Denise stop making excuses for the man she loves, or will she continue to allow abuse to shatter her life? Will Tonya and Gary return to each other and trust be restored in their marriage? As every act of abuse takes away a small part of them, will there be nothing left to take?

The Putting Away is a heart-wrenching, yet formidable tale of how the power of God can heal any situation, even those that are put to the test.

The Putting Away is a story of a woman in denial of being physically abused, another friend who is desperately lonely to the point of almost cheating on her husband, and a third friend who seemingly has it all together. The plot thickens with the tale of a husband who loves his family, but has trust issues with his wife. The characters that Ms. Gordon-Love created are very true to life, and I could definitely feel their agony and happiness through the vivid language of the author. There were lots of twists and turns that kept me turning the page. As an avid reader, I enjoyed the storyline and I applaud the author for shedding a much needed light on the domino affect of domestic violence. In this story it entangles family and friends, which is just the way it happens in every day life. I look forward to the sequel since I need to know what happens to Denise when she moves to Atlanta, Ga.

Denise, Tonya and Lisa are the best of friends. They may not always see eye to eye, but they are there for each other when it counts. Denise has found the love of her life, or so she thinks, in Bernard. She soon realizes all that she has found in him is a violent drunk with a strong right hook. Bernard's violence not only wreaks havoc for Denise but also her ten-year-old son and her close friends. Tonya and her husband, Gary, are a God-fearing couple that on the outside seem to have the perfect marriage. On the inside Gary's neglect has turned Tonya to another man and Gary's pride won't allow him to move forward in saving his family. Lisa is loving life with her husband and new baby girl. Even though she's miles away in California she still has her finger on the pulse of the drama going on in her friends' lives and is only a plane ride away with a helping hand and sound advice. Lisa wonders will they be there for her if and when she needs them. "The Putting Away" by Sharel E. Gordon-Love is an excellent story, well written and put together. There were a few grammatical errors and issues with word spacing; it didn't distract the reader from the story. I think anyone reading "The Putting Away" will be able to get something from it. For me, I came away with the importance of communication. Communication between friends, family, self and, most importantly, God. I give this story a 5. Well done! Reviewed by: Alicia
