Overview

It started out as a nice day. Then Brownie happened. Watch out, Pegram County!

Brownie has returned to the Snoddy Estate. His mother is seven months pregnant, ordered to bed rest and in desperate need of Brownie-free time. So off Brownie goes to visit the Texas Snoddys! It’s the middle of November, he’s ten years old, and they’ve taken away his homemade Taser. How much trouble could there possibly be?

Two men have decided to kidnap Brownie for the rumored Civil War gold the Snoddys reputedly have. And that was their mistake, because no one with a brain in their head kidnaps Brownie Snoddy.

No one.

The Ransom of Brownie is book 4.5 in the Bubba series, taking place after Bubba and the Mysterious Murder Note. It is about 41,500 words long.

Loved, loved, loved this short story.  How much trouble can one

Loved, loved, loved this short story.  How much trouble can one small boy get into.  I have loved the Snoddy series since the first book. I would recommend it to anyone looking to read about a dysfunctional family with a heart of gold.  Can't wait for the next one.

    more from this reviewer

I enjoyed this so much. Brownie gets kidnapped and it isn't long

I enjoyed this so much. Brownie gets kidnapped and it isn't long till the kidnappers realize they are in over there heads. Meanwhile Bubba is doing his best to find the kidnappers, and everybody else is hoping they take Brownie far, far, away. I laughed out loud all the way through, sometimes so hard I cried. A really enjoyable read and good for a lot laughs. You can never go wrong with a Bubba book, even when it's mostly about Brownie.

    To short

This one I think is the shortest of all the Bubba books
But I still loved it. Cant wait for the next.

Good short story of the bubba series

Really liked Bubba but the other genre series were not for me but know authors need to branch out just wish it had been to a classic cozy mystery. Mom

    laughed so hard

Oh my goodness thankfully there are no dead bodies in this book otherwise we'd see poor Bubba in the jail again. But Brownie oh my word. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe! Love this book!!!

    Cute book

I like the Bubba series and think Brownie is a hoot. The kidnappers made me think of the Apple Dumpling Gang and the plot made me think of the Ransom of Red Chief, but the story was still enjoyable.

If you like humorous reads, I highly recommend this book.

I love all of C.L. Bevill's "Bubba" books. This one was just so funny. It does help to have read the previous books so you know the characters. Brownie is a bright, mischievious boy who makes life interesting for everyone around him. I could just visualize the mayhem. I laughed and laughed.

    Fun and easy read

I confess, I love the books in this series and eagerly wait for new ones! The scene from a previous book where Brownie tasers Matt Lauer is hysterical and still makes me laugh. The series is just a fun and easy read - great to relax with on a rainy day. The characters have their little quirks and idiosyncrasies. The basis for the story is that Brownie is kidnapped and creates havoc for his kidnappers with his traps - think Home Alone. If you're looking for a deep, dark, quick moving kidnapping story with any basis in reality - this isn't for you. If you're looking for a quick (it's a short story), fun, easy read - check this out. Then read the previous books in the series on other rainy days.

    Brownie is at it again!

Another adventure by Brownie! I'm so glad my 2 boys aren't like him. What a little dynamo! Loved all of the Bubba books and this one is no exception. It's shorter than the full length novels but is packed with all the misadventures Brownie can come up with.

The Ransom of Brownie is SO entertaining.  Brownie is a regular

The Ransom of Brownie is SO entertaining.  Brownie is a regular Dennis the Menace, he's just too curious,
Smart and precocius for his own good.  The author states that The Ransom of Red Chief was an inspiration
for the book.  But, I think Brownie is even more of a threat to his kidnappers than Johnny.
