Overview

As children, Donovan was Kyra’s only source of love. Fifteen years later Kyra returns to Overbrook Meadows, battle-scarred and weary. Donovan is eager to comfort her, but Kyra’s body still yearns for the one kiss they shared many years ago…

A cool rain washed over Donovan. His red, hot anger was immediately doused. He realized what he did, and he didn’t feel good about it.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. You can keep seeing him if–”

“I’m not going to see him again,” Kyra stated. She was staring deeply into his eyes. Donovan didn’t think she’d blinked at all in the past minute.

Without warning she approached him and wrapped her arms around him. Donovan immediately grabbed her and held tightly. Kyra laid her face against his chest. She said, “Thank you, for everything.”

Donovan lowered his head until his nose and mouth brushed the top of her head. He inhaled her wonderful scents. His arms moved slowly across her back as his hands touched and clutched her flesh. Kyra’s body was on fire. The best friends hugged plenty of times since she returned, but never like this.

Donovan felt light headed. He didn’t realize what was happening until there was a mass of hard muscle between his legs. His manhood pushed against his shorts and then against Kyra.

Embarrassed, Donovan broke away from the embrace. He took a step back. “I’m sorry.”

“Sorry for what?” Kyra asked. She didn’t look down at what she had felt on her stomach. She wanted to. She wanted to look so badly her heart ached. But she kept her eyes glued on Donovan’s. Her expression was daring and alluring and knowing.

“Nothing,” Donovan said.

“Then don’t apologize. You didn’t do anything wrong,” Kyra said. She took a few steps back. She felt pressure in her lower belly as she moved. She felt her muscles clench a little lower down. Her legs threatened to give out on her, but Kyra managed to turn and exit the house.

Donovan was mesmerized by the sway of her hips as she moved. For the first time in his entire life he watched Kyra’s ass like he wanted it, and he didn’t feel one bit guilty about it.

This book was a wonderful Valentine's Day gift to myself! I've read all of Mr. Walker's books. He has yet to dissappoint me. This one is about Kyra and Donovan, two best friends from way back in the day. Kyra had to move to Arkansas when they were in highschool, and she comes back to Texas fifteen years later. Donovan is the first person she looks up. I love stories with strong male heroes like this. I love how real their romance feels, and this book is really hot too. More kudos for Keith Thomas Walker!

                                                         A page turn

A page turner from beginning to end.
How many of us formed childhood friendships and lost communication for one reason are another, and questioned the whereabouts of the other person. In The Realest Ever, Donavon Mitchell and Kyra Reynolds grew up together in Overbrook Meadows, Texas. From Elementary to High School the pair was inseparable, until an unforeseen event caused her to move to another state.

The heroine has faced many adversities in her life span. Despite her environment at home Kyra was able to find joy in one person, her best friend Donavon Mitchell. To her Mitchell was more than a best friend; he was “the only source of peace in her life.” After a hasty move, Reynolds lost hope and made mistakes she will live to regret for the rest of her life. Trying to escape the past and fix some of her wrong doings, Kyra moved back to her hometown. Adjusting to her new surroundings, she comes face to face with Donavon and a flash from her past. History began to repeat itself as she found herself back on the run after confronting a manipulative relative. Uncertainty emerges when it’s revealed she has kept a crucial part of her life from Donavon; a secret that may cost her everything she has every wanted, normalcy. Refusing to revert to her old self, Kyra finds the strength needed to comfort her kids and herself.

Mitchell is an only child; therefore forming a bond with Kyra gave him a sense as if he had a little sister. Never forgetting about her, he often wondered about her wellbeing. Using social media for assistance all of his searches came back “no results found.” Hearing she was back in their hometown, he was ecstatic and his only plea was laying eyes on her; which triggered feelings of apprehension in his girlfriend.

Keith Thomas Walker has created a page turner from beginning to end. I could not put it down until I finished. While reading The Realest Ever, I thought about one phrase “what doesn’t break you will only make you stronger for the next phase in your life.” The novel deals with real life situations making it easy to connect to the characters. A picture is painted that a true friend is a person that is genuine, an encourager, will not withhold the truth, and able to forgive. It also conveys that someone can overcome any obstacle if they truly want to better themselves. I have read several of KTW novels and The Realest Ever is one of my top 5.

The Truth Will Always Set You Free

Donavan Mitchell has been Kyra Reynolds’s best friend and confidant since the beginning of time. The two were separated and Donavan never thought he would see Kyra again. After 15 years of living a difficult life, Kyra returns to Overbrook Meadows, Texas, and the rest shall we say is his-story.

The heroine of this book endured some trials and found her way out of misery. As with life, before we get to the good times we go through some storms. Kyra had her share of storms. However, she adapted and survived in spite of unyielding family members trying to use an awful situation to their benefit. I appreciated this story line about dealing with life and malicious family members.

By the title of the book, “The Realest Ever,” I expected a steamy tale. A lifetime friendship between a man and woman is rare these days and this was thrilling to read. The story line was predictable with a few unseen twists and turns. I could not put this book down. It was refreshing and a delight. I give this book a 5 because of the well-timed and realistic storyline. Bravo, Keith Thomas Walker. This was a nice book.
