Overview

Art in Detail: The Renaissance series takes a unique approach to illuminating, in close-up detail, the styles and techniques of the leading figures of the Renaissance. Using a series of die-cut windows, this book allows the reader to browse twenty of the most significant masterpieces—including Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus and van Eyck’s The Arnolfini Marriage—from a variety of angles and viewpoints.

  • Each image is first looked at in full alongside the artist’s biography and place in the genre’s timeline
  • Carefully positioned and reversible die-cut windows allow each image to be viewed as a spotlit and magnified detail with text summarizing the characteristic technique, tone, and colors of the artist’s work.
  • An innovative and irresistible art giftbook that reveals and revitalizes twenty significant paintings of the Renaissance.

This book was purchased for my daughter, a graduate student in Renaissance Fine Art history. This book gives short and informative information about each painting. Each description of the paintings I found very insightful and useful in helping me to communicate in "artist language" with my daughter.
