SPOILER: Brody McBride ran away from home when he was 20 yea

    SPOILER:
Brody McBride ran away from home when he was 20 years old. He followed the rodeo and then enlisted in the Army and became an Army Ranger. During his last tour in Afghanistan, he was wounded by a roadside bomb. He was then honorably discharged and went back home to the Clear Water Ranch where he was born. While he was recovering in the hospital, he had realized that he was still in love with his childhood sweetheart, Rain. She was the reason he ran away because she had been raised with a loving father, had lived a lifestyle like a princess, and was heading to California to college. He was more like poor white trash who had a drunk for a father. So he was planning on meeting up with Rain, seeing if she could ever forgive him for the mistakes that he had made, and then trying to have a future together. Boy, did he get a shock when he realized she had never left town eight years ago. And did she have a great reason for staying home! I really recommend reading this book to find out exactly why Rain was still in town. This is a really good clean romance with a bit of excitement in the end. If that’s not enough to make you want to read the book, here’s some more for you. There are women fist fighting and kidnapping involved. Now go get the book and read it for yourself.

    Good

I loved her first series so much. It started with a bang and didn't let up. This new book started out much slower. It took me a while to get into it. It wasn't nearly as exciting or fast paced as the first series. Still, it was an enjoyable read and well worth it. She does a great job with Brody demonstrating the struggles of PTSD. He is a flawed, real hero. I will look forward to the next one, but I hope she kicks the excitement up a notch!

Loved the Story of Brody and Rain

This was a book that combined passion, suspense and a lot about what men returning from war experience in adjusting to "home" and real life... Brody and Rain were destined to be together but had to survive a lot of adversity to achieve their final togetherness... Story was excellent, writing was very good, supporting characters were both to love and to hate... I truly enjoyed this book, hard to put down... Can't wait for book two, Falling for Owen, to come out in April... Owen is Brody's half brother... Again, you really need to read Brody's story first... While many books say they are "stand alone" you will enjoy Owen's story a lot more if you read Brody's story first... Owen is very much involved in Book I..

    4.5 Stars!

He was in for a big surpise.

All Brody McBride wanted was to have Rain Evans, the love of his life, the one that he left years ago back in his life. He was ready to beg, to grovel, to whine, he was ready to do for just about anything. What he didn’t expect was to find the biggest surprise of his life when he went to see her.

I admire strong and independent women, those women who can stand in their own feet, doesn’t need men in their lives, and can do just about anything. I most especially admire mothers, who will do just about anything for their children. And I admired and loved Rain Evans. She was strong, steadfast, and did everything for her children. She’s a forgiving soul, and despite the fact that Brody did something unforgivable to her, she did something that had astonished me – she gave up her future for her girls. She made another one, a future that included them. Her heart was big, and despite the fact that it wasn’t necessary to raise both girls on her own, she did that and considered them equal in her eyes. She allowed them to know their father, gave them bits and pieces of him when they asked, and introduced them when he came home. Despite her fear of him coming back for them, she allowed him in their lives.

Brody was young, and confused, and only wanting what he thought was best for Rain – only he didn’t expect that it would shatter her more rather than help her. Because Rain forgave him, I did to – he regretted everything he did and tried to make up for every single day he was missing from their lives. Now, if he can only protect them not just from imminent danger, but from himself as well. You see, he came home a different man from the war. He has nightmares, and flashbacks. He has PTSD. He didn’t want to hurt his girls, and admire him for it. Rain stood by him. She shook him out from his stupor and held his hands, tried to goad him back into the real world. She understood, she never judged, she stayed. She’s a superwoman!!!!

There’s Owen – he’s an amazing brother who was there for him when he returned, and stayed with his girls. He became their uncle, and he helped Rain when times get tough. I’m looking forward for his story as well!

I enjoyed reading Brody and Rain’s journey towards their second chance at love. Brody is indeed lucky to have Rain who had a generous heart that can easily forgive. Rain, the bravest girl I have ever known, deserves her HEA. I laughed, swooned, bit my nails in anticipation and yes, cried a little over that ‘talk’ they had over the cabin (which was my favorite part in the series) and spent my afternoon laying in bed savoring the pages. It was worth my time, and would gladly recommend this one to friends!

    more from this reviewer

The Return of Brody McBride caught my attention for two reasons.

The Return of Brody McBride caught my attention for two reasons. The first reason being the cover. The cover model is Colin Wayne and I love him to pieces so i knew I had to have this book and the second reason is because the main character Brody is an Army Ranger and I love me some bad boy Army Rangers.

I am so glad I read this book because there was so much going on that it kept me intrigued enough to finish it in one night. I mean what is there not love about a hero coming home from war to win back the girl of his dreams only to find out that there is more to the story. When Brody comes back to his house he finds in it shambles like his life. Hurt on a mission and in recovery and discharged from the army Brody decides he will lick his wounds and come home and try to win back the girl he left 8 years ago. He knows he's in for the fight of his life but he is determined to get her back because she is the one.

Was a wonderful subject for a story but this was extremely lacking in meaningful dialogue--couldn't believe how many times and how many ways the same things was said throughout the book. The worst thing though is that it quickly turned to almost pornographic scenes. So bad that I deleted it from my Nook reader.

    Impossibly sweet

Bad boy Brodie is the more realistic of the lovebirds in this tale. Returning home from the military he is determined to reconnect with the love of his life, the girl he cheated on and made love to right before leaving town. She on the other hand is too forgeving, too nice and just too perfect to be belivable. The bad girl is likewise so rotten as to completely uncredible. I enjoy the writing style but with this plot the story could have been so much more with chacaters that hit more than one note.
