THE BLACK SHEEP OF FALLBROOK IS BACK . . . AND HE’S IN FOR THE SURPRISE OF HIS LIFE

Former bad boy, now-decorated Army Ranger Brody McBride is home and on a mission: Find the woman he never should have left behind and right the wrong he did eight years ago.

When the man she loved broke her heart and skipped town, Rain Evans picked up the pieces. But along with heartbreak, Brody left her something infinitely better than she could have imagined: two beautiful daughters. One she gave birth to, and the other she rescued from the woman who helped destroy her relationship with Brody.

Brody is shocked to discover he’s a father, and he’s more determined than ever to win back Rain and protect his girls. Can they rekindle the love they once shared and become the family they were always meant to be? Or will a danger from their past return and ruin everything?

SPOILER: Brody McBride ran away from home when he was 20 years old. He followed the rodeo and then enlisted in the Army and became an Army Ranger. During his last tour in Afghanistan, he was wounded by a roadside bomb. He was then honorably discharged and went back home to the Clear Water Ranch where he was born. While he was recovering in the hospital, he had realized that he was still in love with his childhood sweetheart, Rain. She was the reason he ran away because she had been raised with a loving father, had lived a lifestyle like a princess, and was heading to California to college. He was more like poor white trash who had a drunk for a father. So he was planning on meeting up with Rain, seeing if she could ever forgive him for the mistakes that he had made, and then trying to have a future together. Boy, did he get a shock when he realized she had never left town eight years ago. And did she have a great reason for staying home! I really recommend reading this book to find out exactly why Rain was still in town. This is a really good clean romance with a bit of excitement in the end. If that’s not enough to make you want to read the book, here’s some more for you. There are women fist fighting and kidnapping involved. Now go get the book and read it for yourself.

This was a book that combined passion, suspense and a lot about what men returning from war experience in adjusting to "home" and real life... Brody and Rain were destined to be together but had to survive a lot of adversity to achieve their final togetherness... Story was excellent, writing was very good, supporting characters were both to love and to hate... I truly enjoyed this book, hard to put down... Can't wait for book two, Falling for Owen, to come out in April... Owen is Brody's half brother... Again, you really need to read Brody's story first... While many books say they are "stand alone" you will enjoy Owen's story a lot more if you read Brody's story first... Owen is very much involved in Book I..

I like this author and have read and really liked other books by her, but this one wasn't her best piece. It was really repetitive and I found myself skipping over things a lot. There was only so much I could take with them rehashing the past and him being very sorry.

This book is way to sappy, the adults not only say to much in front of other people but also in front of the kids, not to mention these kids are 7 years old and talk like adults, unbelievable, casual conversations turn intense then back to casual again to often, bad writing.

I got about 100 pages in and gave up...unrealistic and i really got tired of them blaming brody for things he didn't even know about. I'm sure it all ended fine and i liked brody, but there are more engaging stories out there to read...

I loved her first series so much. It started with a bang and didn't let up. This new book started out much slower. It took me a while to get into it. It wasn't nearly as exciting or fast paced as the first series. Still, it was an enjoyable read and well worth it. She does a great job with Brody demonstrating the struggles of PTSD. He is a flawed, real hero. I will look forward to the next one, but I hope she kicks the excitement up a notch!

4.5 Stars! He was in for a big surpise. All Brody McBride wanted was to have Rain Evans, the love of his life, the one that he left years ago back in his life. He was ready to beg, to grovel, to whine, he was ready to do for just about anything. What he didn’t expect was to find the biggest surprise of his life when he went to see her. I admire strong and independent women, those women who can stand in their own feet, doesn’t need men in their lives, and can do just about anything. I most especially admire mothers, who will do just about anything for their children. And I admired and loved Rain Evans. She was strong, steadfast, and did everything for her children. She’s a forgiving soul, and despite the fact that Brody did something unforgivable to her, she did something that had astonished me – she gave up her future for her girls. She made another one, a future that included them. Her heart was big, and despite the fact that it wasn’t necessary to raise both girls on her own, she did that and considered them equal in her eyes. She allowed them to know their father, gave them bits and pieces of him when they asked, and introduced them when he came home. Despite her fear of him coming back for them, she allowed him in their lives. Brody was young, and confused, and only wanting what he thought was best for Rain – only he didn’t expect that it would shatter her more rather than help her. Because Rain forgave him, I did to – he regretted everything he did and tried to make up for every single day he was missing from their lives. Now, if he can only protect them not just from imminent danger, but from himself as well. You see, he came home a different man from the war. He has nightmares, and flashbacks. He has PTSD. He didn’t want to hurt his girls, and admire him for it. Rain stood by him. She shook him out from his stupor and held his hands, tried to goad him back into the real world. She understood, she never judged, she stayed. She’s a superwoman!!!! There’s Owen – he’s an amazing brother who was there for him when he returned, and stayed with his girls. He became their uncle, and he helped Rain when times get tough. I’m looking forward for his story as well! I enjoyed reading Brody and Rain’s journey towards their second chance at love. Brody is indeed lucky to have Rain who had a generous heart that can easily forgive. Rain, the bravest girl I have ever known, deserves her HEA. I laughed, swooned, bit my nails in anticipation and yes, cried a little over that ‘talk’ they had over the cabin (which was my favorite part in the series) and spent my afternoon laying in bed savoring the pages. It was worth my time, and would gladly recommend this one to friends!

The Return of Brody McBride caught my attention for two reasons. The first reason being the cover. The cover model is Colin Wayne and I love him to pieces so i knew I had to have this book and the second reason is because the main character Brody is an Army Ranger and I love me some bad boy Army Rangers. I am so glad I read this book because there was so much going on that it kept me intrigued enough to finish it in one night. I mean what is there not love about a hero coming home from war to win back the girl of his dreams only to find out that there is more to the story. When Brody comes back to his house he finds in it shambles like his life. Hurt on a mission and in recovery and discharged from the army Brody decides he will lick his wounds and come home and try to win back the girl he left 8 years ago. He knows he's in for the fight of his life but he is determined to get her back because she is the one.

Brody McBride has always loved one person - but he left and disappeared for a couple of years and then enlisted and returned home as a war hero. But, men and women who serve our country bring back many things - scars - physically and mentally - especially - PTS. Brody did return home to not only to find his true love but also found he had two daughters whose ages were only a few weeks apart. This story will grab heart strings while also reveal second chances do happen -- especially if one is willing to fight for them.

I enjoyed this story. It was complex and messy just like real life. The character development was solid and relatable. I was hooked from the first. So glad there is more.

This book just kept going in circles, and felt like it was beating a dead horse. The only time i wasnt snoozing was during the scene at the end. Im not sure how this book ever was published, or better yet... how an editor didnt adjust the mundane, over acted emotions. I bought all three books before i read reviews, and i dread reading the rest, but i paid for them.

This was my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it, so much so, it inspired me to purchase the other two books in the series. It was a very heartwarming, romantic, and intriguing story that kept me interested the whole way through. I enjoyed watching the story develop between Brody and Rain, their chemistry was amazing and they were very likeable/relatable characters. I also appreciated how the author put a lot of time and care into detailing Brody's transition back to civilian life after leaving the service. I felt as though she did her research and covered it as accurately as possible.I highly recommend you give this book a try, Brody will melt your heart!
