The closer you get to discovering why Amanda left, the more you realize that nothing about her is what it seems. . . .

Hal, Callie, and Nia are more determined than ever to figure out who Amanda really is, especially after the vice principal was attacked and they spotted a note from Amanda in his car. Clues are pouring in to www.theamandaproject.com, but some of them lead to more questions than answers. When the three friends find a locked, carved box they're sure it holds the key to Amanda's secrets. If only they could get it open! One thing's for sure: In the search for Amanda, no one can be trusted.

Editorial Reviews

The Horn Book
“An entertainingly intricate mystery, enticingly structured with submysteries and textured with emotional tension. Amanda is a tantalizingly enigmatic figure. There’s just enough resolved here to satisfy, and plenty of questions left to keep readers anxiously awaiting the release of the series’ next title.”
Justine Magazine
“An amazingly creative interactive mystery that will draw you in from page one. Secrets, lies, cryptic notes, confusing clues, tattoos and missing persons all contribute to the drama swirling around Amanda as you turn each page. Get addicted to the enigma that is Amanda.”
E. Lockhart
Praise for The Amanda Project:“Forget sleeping. Once you begin exploring Amanda’s disappearance, you’ll be sucked in and won’t want to do anything but read. Amazing fun.”
Children's Literature - Veronica Bartles
The closer Hal, Callie and Nia get to discovering the reason for Amanda's sudden disappearance, the more questions they encounter. They find all of Amanda's clothes and wigs at her favorite vintage clothing store, and the shop owner gives them an intricately-carved wooden box that used to belong to Amanda and certainly holds the key to her past. Unfortunately, the three friends can't get the box to open. The local police are suspicious, their parents want to know exactly where they are at all times, and an old acquaintance warns Hal that spending time with Callie and Nia could be dangerous for all three of them. Amanda told them to work together, and they are stronger as a team than they ever were alone, but finding time together to search for Amanda is tough. If you enjoyed book 1 of "The Amanda Project" series, you will love book 2, which picks up with Hal's perspective right where the first book left off. Silsbee captured the same style and feeling in this book as in the original, with a new, fresh voice. Reviewer: Veronica Bartles

Gr 7 Up—This novel begins where Invisible I (HarperTeen, 2009) left off. Earlier events are alluded to, and some are explained, but it's best to have read the first title. Invisible was narrated by Callie; now Hal picks up the story. They are two of the three students implicated in Amanda's disappearance by Vice Principal Thornhill, who was attacked in his office and is in a coma. Amanda is still missing, yet she seems to know what the three are up to. Hal, Nia, and Callie have launched a website called The Amanda Project, and people are posting Amanda sightings and clues, but they don't add up to anything substantial. The interactive website contains profiles, quizzes, and a teacher/librarian kit for downloading. Readers who register may contribute clues, art, and playlist suggestions. Teens will rapidly turn the pages of this tautly written mystery to reach an ending that leaves fans panting for the third installment.—Brenda Kahn, Tenakill Middle School, Closter, NJ

Hal, Callie, and Nia are now inseperable thanks to the mysterious Amanda. Having found clues to Amanda's disapperance the three work together to find out what happeneed to their friend. Not having read the first novel, I was a little confused before I realized that this was the second in a series of four. That said it was still an enjoyable young adult adventure novel. Well written and fun, so now I will have to read 1, 3, & 4 of the series. Was not a bad way to spend an afternoon in the sun
