"Revenge" (a Travis Mays novel) by Mark Young is a spine tingling page turning mystery that will keep the reader up way into the night trying to figure out who the killer is. After a stake out goes wrong and an innocent victim is killed, Travis Mays seems to have the blame fall on him, but he was not the head honcho that had called the shots. After years of being a police officer, Travis gives it all up and goes into teaching criminology and taking time to relax in his mountain cabin he built in Idaho. But trouble does not stay away. When he hires Jessie White Eagle as a guide to white water rafting he soon finds there is more troublesome time ahead than learning the rapids. He now has become involved in a murder investigation starting with Jessie's brother. As bodies start to pile up it's plain to see someone is out for revenge, but for whom? Travis or the Nez Perce Indian Tribe? As the killer seems to stay one step ahead of the investigation will they finally figure out how or from whom the killer is getting his information and why is he out for revenge?
This was definitely my type of mystery book. A thriller that takes the reader on a ride page after page and keeps them guessing what is going to happen next. As I read I kept trying to figure out the killer and his motive. With many clues and suspects I still could not get it figured out. I found this to be a very difficult book to put down. The characters were well developed and very easy to become connected with and even the secondary characters seemed to lend substance to the plot. As I read I could play out the action in my mind from riding the rapids in a kayak to dodging bullets. The big plus to my thoughts and mind on the novel is, it is cleanly written. When I was over halfway through the book I realized I had not come across any curse words or sexual episodes that I had to skip over like most books seem to contain. I would highly recommend this book to all who relish a good suspense book.

Nice gripping page-turner with some great characters. You'll be cheering on Travis and booing Creasy. A past tragedy that Travis was hoping to put behind him is sneaking up from behind and trying to settle the score - for good! Definitely worth a read if you are into thrillers/mysteries.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Just when you thought you figured it all out, you're thrown for a twist.
Revenge follows ex-detective, Travis May. As bodies keep piling up the clues all seem to point to the case that caused Travis to leave the force. As they rush to figure out who the killer is, Travis is faced with the ghosts of his past.
I loved this story from the beginning. First off, I love a good mystery and Revenge delivered on that. Even though I thought I had it all figured out, the author threw a curve ball in the end and added a completely different layer that I did not see coming. I had to read the sentence a few times to confirm that my eyes were not playing tricks on me.
Secondly, Revenge is one of the few self-published novels that I found refreshing to read. Sometimes, self-published books are littered with mistakes and continuity errors - possibly due to lack of proper editing - however, Revenge read as though it had a good editor. I did notice a two things, but they were so minor I got past them without being pulled out of the narrative.
Finally, I enjoyed the way the narrative moved from one point of view to the next. You got to see the killer's moves without revealing too much for you to know who the killer is, at least until it was necessary. Revenge is a great read for the mystery lover.

Mark Young does an amazing job of spinning a story that keeps you from putting it down. Many mystery novels can be figured out quickly, but this one is not that way. You will keep guessing as you move through the story. The descriptions are so rich, you feel as though you are there along the river or on the trail. I highly recommend this book. I can't wait for the next Travis Mays novel by Mark Young! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This is a great suspense book!! I am usually good at knowing who the bad guy is, and why they are bad in any given novel, yet this one kept me guessing until the very end. The technical information was fascinating and it kept me up at night, as I could not put it down. Great author! I can't wait until his next book comes out.Was this review helpful?
