Overview

HITLER "BLAMES OTHERS"... points fingers at Dusseldorf in particular for being body-slammed in Munich, punched in London, and jailed in Cleveland. Worse, he comes face to face with the full might of the United States military in 2017.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the day following the 2017 inauguration of Jack Stenhouse as President of the United States, a mysterious Rift appears in the center of the Atlantic Ocean. On the other side of the Rift it is 1943. World War II is in progress. On top of the usual range of modern problems, fate now deals the new President the task of dismantling the German war machine. A cast of characters including Special Forces, spies, historians, forgers, weapons experts, German cabaret singers, Navy SEALs (who are tasked with the mission of kidnapping Hitler), and frontline GI's are soon using modern technology to fight WWII with the weaponry of the 21st century alongside Allied historical figures from the past.
In this literary-themed exposition of an alternate history, short stories loosely connect around the globe to different points of the larger story, as told through the eyes and points of view of different participants in different parts of the globe during WWII.
Not an action-packed adventure story but a psychological portrait of different participants caught up in different parts of the same web-all related to Hitler's sudden reappearance on the scene and the subsequent world-wide upheaval that results.

Jack Stenhouse is sworn-in as the new President of United States. The following day, January 21, 2017, something dramatic occurred. When it becomes apparent that it is more sinister than earlier thought to be, the new President Stenhouse's enemies, detractors, critics, and political opponents moved heaven and earth trying to make the connection between the two things, but they couldn't make it stick. Baffling scientists and world leaders, "the Rift" as USA Today called it, appears. It is a gap in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, a fog-drenched trench. What is particularly of significance is that the Rift appears to be a dividing line, and on one side of the line it's 1943. It's a fault- line, a line of demarcation. The line runs above the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, an underwater mountain range in the Atlantic caused by the shifting of tectonic plates on the ocean floor. But that still wouldn't explain why it's 1943 in Europe. The Rift: A Novel by Larry W. Phillips is a war and military fiction that explores an alternate history with different threads focusing on the points of views of different participants. The Rift resulted in World War II being fought in 2017, with modern weaponry and Hitler playing an important role. It is a psychological portrait which will absorb and immerse readers into an unlikely story. Though a war and military fiction, it is not an action-packed adventure story.
