I thought I had seen this edition at the store, where the one I saw was billed as a "Barnes & Noble edition." As a history buff, it seemed like a good way to get a glimpse into the losing side of the Civil War. On the B&N website, the cover even looked like the one I saw on the display shelf. Shoulda bought the edition at the store and not this one. Upon delivery, with great anticipation I opened the book -- and saw that it was printed in something like 4-point type, making it an arduous chore to get through even a single page. It's a completely unprofessional, slapdash job: the first volume is named "Volume One (Of Two)," while the second volume is billed as "Volume II." Inconsistent treatment. (That should have tipped me off as to the poor quality of this edition.) Then the text in "Volume One" is right-justified, but the text in "Volume II" is ragged right. And the entries in the index are weirdly spaced, with enormous gaps of white space between words just to make them right-justified. Ridiculous. If you have any interest in this book (along with the second volume), get a different edition. Your eyes will thank you for it. I'm taking these two volumes back to the store for a refund.
