School Library Journal

Gr 4-7

This adaptation provides a look at the origins of the cat Scourge, the evil leader of the Bloodclan. Tiny is a fearful house kitten who is the runt of the litter. Once he strikes out on his own, though, he renames himself Scourge and vows to take revenge on the wild forest cats who once attacked him. Though drawn and laid out in a manga style, the illustrations are more detailed than typical manga drawings and effectively bring out the cats' personalities and characters. This is not a cuddly animal tale: there are some vicious attacks, one ending in a death.-Lisa Goldstein, Brooklyn Public Library, NY

When I first read Warriors:the darkest hour I wondered why Scourge was so evil and why these big strong rouges were taking orders from a cat the size of an apprentice but now I understand. I mean did you see how Socks and Ruby treated him. It was terrible. And how dare Thistleclaw order Tigerpaw to attack a stranded kit.Its wrong. Also if Ruby hadnt said he'd get thrown in the River he could now be living with his mother. One upside to having scourge was the deathof Tigerstar. But you know what I think? If Scourge's litter mates weren't so cruel scourge would be the kind Tiny still and if Thistleclaw wasn't so battle-hungry Maybe Tigerclaw would have been a brave, respected hero like he was meant to be....

This was a great story I think it was the best warriors I have read even though it is a manga and only took me like 30 minutes to read. It literally had me crying over Scourge it is very sad and it touches your heart and teaches you not to mean to people who are different from you like Scourge's brother and sister did with him, and they got their just deserts. The story also, well in my opinion I don't know about other readers who have been scourge haters, but it does actually if you think hard justifies everything he has ever done (though I think the whole thing with Barley's sister was kind of mean...). Also now you know the reason to his reacting so strongly towards Tigerstar in taking his nine lives all at once I think it was pretty cool when he did that though because I HATE Tigerstar. Also, in reading other reviews that many of you fellow warrior adicts is Scourge perhaps distant kin of Firestar? If you think hardly Scourge's mother actually could be Firestar's just a different litter, or don't deny the fact that Scourge's mother could be Firestar's aunt. So that would make Firestar Scourge's second cousin you just have to think about what I have just typed and take time to wonder maybe.

I thought this book was fascinating, and i learned a lot more about scourge than i already knew. But the only problem was that this book was very short, and i finished it, along with three other manga books in one night. But i still think that any Warrior fan would take this book into consideration.

This book has showed me how true warriors fight. It Seems a slatch in the neck works for this cat! In the book Scourge starts out as a little kit called tiny but, soon he changes alot. he becomes a street cat and is owner of bloodclan soon enough. In the end he wins the battle to fight tigerstar the leader of shadowclan. Check out this book at Barns n' Noble! Hope you liked my review :)!

I always thought Scourge was mean. But he was really the smallest and weakest one with his littermates. In my opinion, it's Ruby's fault Scourge was evil. She said if you don't get adopted you'll get thrown in the river (Or something like that). So then he ran away. And I never knew how big Tigerclaw was. WOW.
