More About This Book

Overview

The Rising Mist is the final book of the beloved Mist Trilogy. Readers of Behind the Mist and Mists of Darkness have been eagerly awaiting its release.

In Celestia, home of the Legion of the Unicorn, the power of love prevails over fear. Nick and Bethany, immortal humans, are unicorn riders. Along with other legion members, they and their unicorns, Lazari and Shema, rescue and protect animals in danger on Earth.

After many successful trips to Earth, Nick and Bethany must face a personal crisis. The evil unicorn, Hasbadana, has captured Nick's sisters. When they try to rescue the girls, they, too, are imprisoned in a swirling mist of darkness.

When Urijah, the Lord of Celestia, sacrifices himself to take their place, Nick is determined to find a way to free him. It will take the combined efforts of the Legion of the Unicorn and a partnership with the animals of the Underground Kingdom to execute the unconventional plan.

But will that be enough to succeed?

I enjoyed M.J. Evans' earlier books in this series, so I expected to like this one and was not disappointed.

The book begins with Nick and Bethany, and their respective unicorns and other legion members, assisting horses (and other animals and humans) who are in need around the Earth. As expected by the teaser on the back cover, however, a new peril arrives when Hasbadana abducts Nick's sisters and takes them to his dark castle.

Nick and Bethany make the journey to get them back, only to be captured themselves, which was Hasbadana's plan all along. After Urijah sacrifices himself in return for their freedom, Nick determines to find a way to bring Urijah back.

The book carries the reader along from point to point, building in tension as the rescues become more and more difficult. The ending is very satisfying, and readers who already love Nick and Lazari and the other characters from the earlier books will enjoy this book as much or more than the earlier ones.
