File structure makes it effectively unusable

This is (again) a review of the ebook itself, rather than it's content. The content files inside an .epub are supposed to be roughly 260k for a Nook for performance reasons. This is what calibre defaults to when converting a file to .epub. This has a single compressed 7.2mb content file, which makes it something of a disaster. If you have some patience and a bit of time with Google, you can make it work as well as any other .epub, but really this should be fixed by the publisher, and should have been caught by B&N before it was posted for sale.

    Hard to open

Great collection but time to open a story is so long to the point it is unusable. Do not buy this version

    Will not open.

Do not order this, it does not work. I failed to read the reviews before I ordered it. My great loss. I down loaded and all I can get is the cover with Howards picture. Nothing will come up no matter what you do. It just sits there with a blank screen.

I will read the reviews from now on.

    Unusable-wish I'd read the reviews

I'm going to attempt to get my money back or at least get the book fixed. Warning: book freezes reader app on Nook Touch.

    good stories, bad programming

Prone to freezing up when navigating, slow to respomd when trying to turn pages. Very frustrating, given how excellent Howard's writing is. I'd recommend looking for adifferent anthology, and probably a different publisher. I've had similar issues with other works by these folks.

    Works fine

The content page worked fine for me & the book opens up fine. If this product had problems, they seemed to have been fixed! Great author and this book offers a good overview of his work. I'm glad I got it!

Robert E. Howard the Grandfather of Sword & Sorcery

I bought my first REH novel at a Brikobrak store in the 1980s. Conan the Cimmerian. I read that book from cover to cover in one day. It was no fantasy book I used to read. I loved it. No elves, trolls or dwarves like the other novels Ive read. It straight forward. I like elves and dwarves and such but the thing that got me hooked on Conan, Bran, Kull and Solomon was the no nonsense way of the stories. My favorite is Conan of the Isles the part where Conan advises his son on ruling the kingdom before he leaves to go to Thule. Ive enjoyed his work and will consider to do so.

Book takes forever to open. The table of contents doesn't link

Book takes forever to open. The table of contents doesn't link to the stories. You better hope you don't go to the beginning or you will be flipping through a bunch of pages. Bookmark often. But for $1.99 you can't really complain much.

    They have fixed it

Fiest, you can ignore the "this does not work" reviews. It has been fixed.

Now, the biggest issue I have is the stories do not seem to be in any order. I love that there is a good representation of his works, but I wish there were dates on each to help trace his evolution.

    Buy it and enjoy.
