About the Author

Paul grew up in Glossop, Derbyshire, a small town on the outskirts of Manchester, and a gateway to the Peak District. The second eldest of six children of Irish parents, after graduating as a geologist from the University of London, Chelsea College, he worked in the UK, Dubai, Indonesia, the USA, and Qatar exploring for and developing oil and gas. He lives in Houston, Texas, with his wife Ella, and close to his two sons. Now retired, he teaches ESL and gets back to the hills whenever he can.
