This romance is set in the early 20th century England and France. It is about a woman who gets married despite her love for someone else! You may not like the people...but you can't put it down...as you read you will agree it's a well-written story that moves along smoothly and holds your attention easily.
The main character, a young English girl named Chris Wyndham, is beyond pitiful. She has the manners and behavior of a twelve year old. As a 20-year old, she marries a man almost 15 years her senior. He seems intelligent, manly, a real heroic type of guy. However, after a while the reader must surely begin to wonder what he sees in this little idiot.
The author gives this novel a nice bittersweet ending. If you like romances set in earlier times, this one is quite good!
