This is a fine collection of both standards and obscure material. But what makes the CD worth purchasing isn't only the songs themselves, but also the array of artists represented and the excellent -- and unusual -- arrangements. The latin-tinged rhythm's of Bing Crosby's ''Loneliness of Evening,'' and the moody harmonies of Gordon Jenkin's arrangement of ''No Other Love,'' (also sung by Crosby) are highlights. Rosemary Clooney singing mournfully ''Love, Look Away'' and Jeri Southern singing ''Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful'' are unforgettable. If you like Rodgers and Hammerstein and the popular singers of the 40s and 50s, you won't be disappointed. And the price is right.
