"Each time Ms. Haymore writes a book in this series I think there is no way to top the one I just finished. I started this latest one and realize she has done just that and has proven to me how fresh this series can remain. The characters of Becky and Jack are so full of life and longing just trying to make the right connection between family, relationship and future happiness while figuring out who to trust with all their secrets. This is a wonderful story and while I recommend reading the 1st two it is not imperative as Jennifer Haymore is a magician at connecting the plot from one book to the next— but trust me you will have to buy the first two, they are that good."—The Reading Reviewer (www.marygramlich.com) on A Season of Seduction

Meet the Author

As a child, Jennifer Haymore traveled the South Pacific with her family on their homebuilt sailboat. The months spent on the sometimes quiet, sometimes raging seas sparked her love of adventure and grand romance. Since then, she's earned degrees in computer science and education and held various jobs ranging from bookselling to teaching inner-city children to acting, but she's never stopped writing.

You can find Jennifer in Southern California trying to talk her husband into yet another trip to England, helping her three children with homework while brainstorming a new five-minute dinner menu, or crouched in a corner of the local bookstore writing her next novel.

I¿ve been on a historical kick lately, and anything that mention

I’ve been on a historical kick lately, and anything that mentions a Rogue is certainly going to get a second look from me. So when the opportunity arrived to read this title I jumped at the chance. Jennifer Haymore has written a story that was delightfully entertaining, the perfect break for an afternoon.

Lukas is the second son, free from the onus of first born, he spends much of his time bedding women and gambling. His family is in a bit of turmoil, his mother disappeared and despite extensive investigation, the only lead is that she was last seen in the company of a Roger Morton. Lukas leaves London and heads west to search the outlying counties and into Wales, looking for clues as to his mother’s whereabouts.

Emma is recently widowed, and is also seeking Roger Morton: her family is in ruin, and she believes he holds the key. As luck, and chance would have it, Lukas’ enquiries to Morton’s whereabouts lead him to an inn to await information. While there, he passes time flirting with, and planning to seduce Emma. When they retire to his chamber, he has no idea that she could have answers for him.

Emma’s husband was less than honorable, and her concern that Lukas may turn out to be another disastrous acquaintance has her reluctant to act upon the attraction that burns between them. But, Lukas needs her, and she can use him to gain her ends, so she demands and ultimately is granted the opportunity to travel with and hunt for Morton with Lukas.

These two are purely delightful, with their chemistry and attraction is nearly palpable. Far from being more traditional in terms of heat, Lukas is a dominant alpha male, and his obsession with bondage is one that he gradually explores with Emma, to their mutual satisfaction. Emma is strong and logical, not overly concerned with the censure of the ton, after experiencing the loss of her family’s fortune there isn’t much left to lose. Lukas has his moments of rogue, but almost from the moment he meets Emma, he is smitten and becomes a one woman, very protective man.

A fun installment in the series, there are more family members to match up, so I can only assume that they fun will continue.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

    A not to miss series

A not to miss series Historical, England

Lukas “Luke” Hawkins is determined to find his missing mother and the man that is accused of kidnapping her, Roger Morton. He will do anything to find her even if it means breaking a few laws in the process. Luke suddenly finds his task and heart in jeopardy when he meets a mysterious woman with the face of an angel and a body made for sin.

Emma Curtis has heard all about Lord Lukas’ rakish reputation and she hopes to use that to her advantage. Most men of honor wouldn’t dream of taking an unmarried woman on the road with them. Luckily Luke is a man that is more than willing to take her on the road with him and into his bed. As their journey takes them to unexpected places Luke and Emma indulge every one of their secret fantasies. Just when they think they have a chance of having something permanent a secret comes to light that threatens to end the love they have found forever.

This is proving to be a wonderful series and will have readers eagerly awaiting all the siblings’ stories. Watching Emma and Luke overcome the tragedies of their pasts makes for some great reading. While this is good size book it proves to be a very fast reading as the reader will want to keep turning the pages just to see what will happen next and if it will work out for the characters. There are parts of the storyline that tends to be a little dark but it works very well in the story. It will have readers hoping for the best for the characters. This is proving to be series not to miss and with the central plot tying all the books together so well this is one series readers will be eagerly awaiting each and every book.

The good news is the book matches the cover.  It's hot!  I really enjoyed the mystery aspect and I'm usually not a mystery reader.  Like I said earlier the chemistry between Lukas and Emma was off the charts!  I loved Emma and Lukas.  Lukas's past broke my heart.  I completely understood why he had such a hard time around his siblings.  I felt he was really strong even after experiencing everything he did.  Emma is loyal and loving to those she cares for and I love how she was willing to go the extra mile.  This is my first Jennifer Haymore book.  It also turns out this is the second in a series.  Luckily I didn't feel lost and was able to keep up with everything.  I can't wait to read more by her.  She's definitely someone to watch out for!

I really enjoyed this book.  It is hot and sexy but there is more to the story.  Emma and Luke are two people who have had serious obstacles to overcome such as betrayal and abuse.  But be aware there is a big twist that you won't see coming.  This book was a pleasant surprise with the suspense.  I definitely recommend it.

Tortured behavior went on a little too long.
I received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Emma’s husband was killed a year ago, worse…his killer stole her family’s fortune. Now her father is wasting away and bills are piling up. Emma is out for revenge. Lord Lukas is hunting for the same man. Having her along would be a dangerous distraction, but alas, she has clues he needs to find his man…and hopefully his mother. But can he hide his dark desires from her?

If you’re looking for an erotic historical romance with a bit of bondage, pick up this novel. I like sexy times as much as the next girl, but since I grabbed this thinking it would be a standard historical romance, I wasn’t prepared for the amount of sex in it. That said, the scenes were hot. The heroine is also a bit of a saint. She puts up with far more from her hero than I ever would. In the end it pays off for her.

I’m harder on traditionally published novels than Indie. So since this one is a traditional book, it gets a 3.5* from me because Luke's tortured behavior went on a bit long.

Lord Lukas Hawkins has the reputation of being a rogue, a rake and a scoundrel and is very fond of his ale and anything stronger, much to the chagrin of his family, especially his older brother the Duke of Trent. Emma Curtis also knows of the very handsome Lord’s reputation but Lukas is her only hope to obtain all she’s lost at the hands of another scoundrel. Dare she pledge an alliance that would prove beneficial to them both? Emma thinks so, because underneath the handsome package she senses there’s more than what this elusive Lord lets everyone see and she wants the chance to find out what Luke is hiding! Lukas is on a mission to find his missing mother the Dowager Duchess of Trent who mysteriously disappeared over six months ago supposedly in the company of Roger Manton, clues thus far has the trail leading to Scotland, Emma wanting answers and revenge for her husband’s murder has decided she needs to accompany him and presents him with a proposal of her own. Travelling together without a chaperone would damage Emma’s reputation so under the guise of being husband and wife they will cross many miles in the search for the truth. The truth for Emma however, comes with its own struggles and what she finds will change her life forever. Sensual and heartwarming the honesty between Luke and Emma will keep you riveted. Like Emma, after reading their tale you may change your mind about rogues, too!

Ms. Haymore has done it again. I have never been disappointed by any of her stories and this one is certainly no exception. Great character development and an interesting plot made for a wonderful combination. Even though I have not yet gotten around to reading the first book in this series (although I do plan to rectify this right away), I did not feel lost or that I was missing anything.

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it did start off a bit on the slow side. It took a few chapters to draw me in but once it did, there was no turning back. I look forward to reading many more of Ms. Haymore's novels in the future.

This was a good read. I believe there were almost every plot line that a Regency could come up with. First, Mother is taken from her home. Next, Luke, the son has major issues with his Father and the rest of his family. Then he meets Emma who wants him to take her along to find the same man he is hunting who killed her husband and stole her family's money. Somewhere in there is time for quite a few BDSM love scenes. It is not an under 18 read but it isn't dirty sex either. I would gladly read this book over and over again. As this is the 2Nd in the series I will wait for the next book. If the BDSM aspect doesn't upset you give this book a chance.

This is a steamy historical romance that is definitely a must read. It’s the second book in A House of Trent series, and can be read as a stand-alone story. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

Lord Lukas Hawkins is the second son of the House of Trent, and he has the reputation of being a rogue. The last few months he’s been searching for his missing mother and not finding any answers to her whereabouts. While his brother leads the search in London he will search where most people would not willingly travel. Someone has given him the name of the man who was last seen with his mother. He needs answers, and he is determined to do whatever it takes to find that man. Hopefully, his mother will still be with him.

Luke never expected to be offered help from a beautiful stranger. But when Emma approaches him with information he needs that might lead to Roger Morton and possibly his mother, he decides to agree to her demands that he allow her to accompany him in his search to get whatever she has.

Emma Curtis is searching for Roger Morton for reasons of her own, and she plans to find him even if her reputation is ruined doing it. No matter what, they will stick together until Roger is found. She knows Luke is a rogue and she should not care for him, but it is not that easy. As they spend time together she sees another side of him that he hides from everyone, and for the first time that he can recall, Luke realizes that he actually cares about what happens to a woman, and he’s not sure what to make of it. Can they heal each other enough to believe in love? Or will the past keep them from a future together?

I received an ARC of this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Emma Curtis is determined to find the man who murdered her husband and
stole her father's money, but without funds of her own, it's heavy going until
Lord Lucas Hawkins arrives in Bristol, in pursuit of the same scoundrel.
Armed with a teensy bit of information, (and a body to die for doesn't hurt) she
persuades Luke to work with her.

Although he's a rogue, and has Issues dating back to childhood abuse by the
man he believed to be his father, Luke is determined not to take advantage of
the luscious Emma. Unless she begs.

We all know she's going to be, don't we?

I received a free copy of this novel via Netgalley in exchange for an honest
    review.

The chemistry between these two is hot; there's a hint of bondage and
dominance games in the scorching sex scenes, and some sensual
descriptions of Regency food and clothing. There's a nice mix of people from
his and her families, without it becoming overwhelming. It's the second in a
trilogy, but works fine as a stand-alone. I also liked that when people became
hurt here, they weren't magically all better by the next page. Very well-crafted,
with twists and turns I didn't see coming from a mile away.

Lord Lukas Hawkins is hunting for his missing mother. His information has led him to hunt for Roger Morton. Emma Anderson is also hunting for Roger Morton. She believes that he has stolen all of her family's money and killed her husband.

Emma proposes that they hunt for Morton together. She has more knowledge of the man, so Lukas agrees.  Their journey takes them across England and Emma soon realizes that there is more to Lukas than his reputation as a rogue.

The hunt for Morton brings them back to London where things escalate with the search and between Emma and Lukas.  Can Emma get over her fear of Lukas being like her dead husband and will Lukas believe that he is good enough for Emma?

After meeting Lukas in The Duchess Hunt, I was really looking forward to his story.  In the previous story, all we saw was an angry man who lashed out at everyone and we didn't know why.  As this story unravels, we learn the reasons why Lukas acts as he does. He needed a strong woman to convience him that he was worth her love and his family's love. Emma was the perfect woman for him. The secondary characters in the story (the Hawkins family) just draw you in and I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series. Next up is the story of older brother, Sam. The Scoundrel's Seduction will be out on May 27, 2014.

Thanks go to Jennifer Haymore for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

They are both strong, determined people who have know great pain and suffering. Their time together brings them close both emotionally and physically. Do they have a future together? Jennifer Haymore delivers a suspenseful and very romantic story. Her characters are multilayered and she captures their emotions and desires perfectly. I want Luke and Emma to find happiness. I was surprised by her plot twist. It completely stunned me. This is a wonderful well plotted book. A perfect continuation of her House of Trent series. I can't wait to see what happens next!

I think Lucas might be my favorite Hawkins brother now. He think

I think Lucas might be my favorite Hawkins brother now. He thinks so bad of himself that I felt sorry for him. What happen to him as a child left a deep mark on him that I am just surprise no one knew except for our heroine, Emma when she was able to get him to tell her. The scares that were left behind always reminded him that he was evil and will always be evil. To have fought the battle alone with none of his siblings knowing...I pity him but also love him because he allowed for someone to help him slowly fight it.

I love Emma because she doesn't particular give up on what she is fighting for. She is feisty and determine but truly loves her family. Her personality is one where she would do almost anything to protect her love one like getting justice for her dead husband and family. I truly started to love her more when she learns about what happen to Lucas as a child and then to help him in the end, ask for help from one of his older brother, Sam.

The "relations" as Emma first stated between them was something. She didn't want any relations with Lucas but later comes to want him. The romance was both hot and steamy but has a sweetness to it. I can't wait for the next book now...it's finally the oldest brother, Sam's turn. He's a mystery and I do want to get to know him.

Oh, this was a good one! Ive never read anything by Jennifer Hay

Oh, this was a good one! Ive never read anything by Jennifer Haymore but she now has a new fan. The Rogues Proposal is the 2nd book in the House of Trent series. I have not read the first one yet, but I plan to. This book works well as a standalone too. I was never lost and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I love Luke and Emma!! Luke feels like he's been living under his brothers shadow his entire life. Luke has a complicated and dark past and he's trying to work through his demons. Even though Luke thinks he's evil, deep down he is kind, caring, a real gentleman and a beast in bed. *waggles eyebrows* Emma is a widow who's devoted to her family and trying to make sure they are taken care of. Her late husband's business partner murdered him and stole her family's fortune. Emma seeks out Lord Lukas Hawkins to help her track down her husband's killer and get her family's money back. The man that murdered Emma's husband is also the man who was with Luke's mother before she disappeared 6 months ago.

This story is amazing! I was pulled in from the very beginning and the connection Luke and Emma have is sweet and.... not so innocent. There is some surprising twists in the book and I was constantly intrigued and I even cried a little. This is a difficult one to put down. Haymore really knows how to write a sex scene and there are a lot of them. Each sexual encounter Luke and Emma had were intense. I actually felt Luke and Emma falling in love and was cheering for them from the very beginning.

Oh and one more thing... Luke says to Emma shortly after they meet for the first time: "But I have a condition of my own. I can offer you the heights of pleasure, Mrs. Emma Curtis. If, you at some point during the term of our agreement, you were to beg... I promise, I'll not deny you."

Luke: "I want you, Emma. I have since that first night. Every single night, my body is an inferno burning just for you. And every night I deny it. Every night I suffer. Will you beg? Will you relieve my suffering?"

Luke (my personal favorite line): "I have done things to women that would horrify you. I've taken them two at a time. I've shared with other men. I've participated in orgies."

Super hot, very sweet, and a brilliant historical romance! The Rogue's Proposal was a fantastic read. The romance was sweet and steamy, the secrets revealed took me by surprise, and I loved every bit of it.

Emma was a lovely heroine. She was very strong, devoted to her loved ones, and determined to get justice for her dead husband and her family. If that means she has to face down Morton, then so be it. And, so, she finds Luke and convinces him to take her along. I really liked her. She was one tough woman, one who can get through anything life throws at her. I thought she was wonderful.

Luke was complicated. His past was very messy. He was beaten and tormented by the man he though was his father, never knowing the reason why. Even after the cruel old monster died, it still affected his relationship with his siblings and his self image. He somewhat resents his brothers and sisters, particularly the Duke, unable to disconnect his memory of his father from his siblings. And, since his father constantly drilled in him that he was inherently evil, he still believes it. He was a heartbreaking character, one that had a lot of demons that he was still fighting off. But, despite all that, he was very devoted to those he cared about. And, he was so sweet when he let his armor down. I totally adored him. He was a mix and confident and insecure and damaged and sweet and a whole lot more. As I said, a complicated character. And, I loved that about him. He was perfectly flawed and just amazing.

The romance was very steamy. I mean, sparks flying everywhere, super hot, fan-your-face steamy. Emma and Luke were explosive together. Once they gave in to what they wanted, they couldn't keep their hands off each other. Whew, was it spicy! The chemistry was definitely on fire and every one of those scenes was well done. But, more than that, they were genuinely a perfect match. They were very sweet together, both making each other stronger. I loved how Emma was able to slowly help Luke move on from his past. And, no matter what one did, the other was always going to forgive because they truly knew each other. I thought they were perfect together.

The plot was fast paced. I was hooked the entire way through. There were a few surprises in store that I never saw coming. Particularly the truth about Morton. That one blew me away. And, the continuation of the search for the duchess kept me on the edge of my seat. We find out more clues and I'm anxious to read on in this series to find out what happened to her. I really enjoyed the story and I thought the ending was absolutely perfect.

The Rogue's Proposal was an absolutely brilliant read! I loved every bit of it, from the romance, to the mystery, to the secrets. It was all perfect. Lovers of romance, you have to read this book.
