Although their third American album was patched together in the usual British Invasion tradition from a variety of sources, it's their best early R&B-oriented effort. The best gem is "Little Red Rooster," a pure blues with wonderful slide guitar from Brian Jones and a number one single in Britain, although it was ...

As songwriters, Jagger and Richards are still struggling, but they come up with one of their first winners and an American Top 20 hit with the yearning, soulful "Heart of Stone."

    Where it Started for me!

This is my FAVE Stones LP as well as previous reviewer. I heard this,&amp quot my older sisters' copy&amp quot ,at 12 yrs. of age,and it changed my life. I was just starting to play the drums and have been a musician for over 40 years! This is what the boys learned early on by listening to all the old TROOPS,from Chicago New Orleans etc. Micks' vocals are probably the best you'll ever hear, passionate and eager to get the message across. Keiths' simple straight forward guitar chops are awesome. Charlie,a fave drummer, plays simplicity and it sounds genius,on a sparse kit and it all combines for a magic CD! Highly recommended. Just take a close listen to HEART of Stone, and if it doesn't grab you.....Ron Larocque,Ottawa,Canada.

    Going To Chicago

I love this album! Without a doubt my favorite Stones lp ever and one of the very best Brit Invasion albums of the 60's.This is the group at their blusiest with their most inspired covers of American Blues and R'n'B. Get this if you like early Stones,R'n'B,or just great music.
