About the Author

Rough Guides are written by expert authors who are passionate about both writing and travel. They have detailed knowledge of the areas they write about—having either traveled extensively or lived there—and their expertise shines through on every page. It's priceless information, delivered with wit and insight, providing the down-to-earth, honest read that is the hallmark of Rough Guides.

Ros Belford co-authored the first edition of the Rough Guide to Italy, and has since written and broadcasted extensively about Italy and the Mediterranean. She lives in Cambridge and spends as much time as she can in Siracusa and on the Aeolian island of Salina.

Jonathan Buckley has written several guidebooks to various parts of Italy, and has published eleven novels. His reviews appear regularly in the Times Literary Supplement. In 2015 he won the BBC National Short Story Award.

Tim Jepson lived in Rome as a journalist and is co-author of Rough Guides on Canada, Florence & Siena, the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver. He is also author of some twenty books on Italy, was an editor on the travel desk of a UK broadsheet and currently works as a lecturer for National Geographic Expeditions.
