The Rules of Parentingby Richard Templar
There are lots of wrong ways to bring up your kids, but there are lots of right ones, too. There's no list of instructions you have to follow to the letter if you don't want your child to end up a loser. The Rules of Parenting presents the principles to follow which you can adapt to suit you and your children. Beginning with the first rule "Relax" and continuing through 100 rules, this book presents a guide to everything a parent needs to know from toddling, school, boyfriends or girlfriends, through driving lessons and college. The book begins with a section that covers the most important rules, The Rules for Staying Sane. The rest of the sections cover the some of the big questions of parenting, including the Attitude Rules, the Discipline Rules, the Sibling Rules, the School Rules, the Teenage Rules, the Crisis Rules, all the way up to the Grown-up Rules.

This book is very easy to read and quite informative. a lot of the incidents mentioned are handled well and in some cases, quite amusing. some of the ways the situations were handled were really quite obvious when actually pointed out, like yeah, that's so true but i didn't think of it like that. Since reading it I have started to treat my little grandson in a different way, explaining why I have had to say no to him and why he shouldn't throw his toys in the air in case they hit his little brother and even telling him where wer're going in the car even if he's only 2!! So even an old lady like me with 3 grown up kids learnt from it.I just wish he'd included how to treat jealousy amongst younger siblings (2 & 1 year olds). My grandson refuses to acknowledge his younger brother and has tried to push or hit out at him on more than one occasion. This would have been very helpful because he covered almost everything else.
