I bought Glover¿s `¿Runner¿s handbook¿¿ when I started running a few months ago just a little after my 40th birthday and the birth of Anne-Sophie, my first child. Fact is, I wanted to be a father to her not a grandfather. During the last decade, I have been moderately active ( cross country walking, light cycling ). I was now ready to do more, to go aerobic, to run. As I wanted to do it by myself, I was looking for advice and information on topics ranging from a beginner¿s training program to injury prevention, nutrition and equipment. I found good, relevant information on all the above and much more in `¿The Runner¿s Handbook¿¿. There are several books on the subject and it is difficult to choose one you can trust or that suits your fitness level. I picked that book after reading reviews and reader comments and I feel I made the right choice. Glover¿s style is light and friendly and it is filled with anecdotes and quotes. It is very complete ( and thick) and Glover has decades of experiences behind him. It is not too scientific ( some say not enough )which makes it easy and fun to read. I especially enjoyed the chapters on motivation, equipment and cross training. Just look at the table of content and you will see that all questions are answered. If you are looking for one book that covers all aspects of running (except maybe advanced competition training ), this is the one. Luc St-Onge, Shawinigan, Quebec

This is an excellent book. It cover all aspects of running. From cross-traing to the right kinds of shoes to wear. I recomend it to anyone interested in running or anyone who wants to become interested in the sport. This is a book for all ages.
