The story is very engaging, the characters have depth. But they're [sic] is something to be said for the necessity for a proofreader who can tell the difference between "there," "their," and "they're." At the very least, someone to point out that if you are going to mix up "capital" and "capitol," you should at least be consistent throughout the story. How I would love to rate this book better, but the grammar mistakes are beyond distracting (even if one can make an ecxeption for poor spelling, which to me is just as distracting!).

This is a long story that leeaves you with littlr resolution. I will not be reading more of this series.

I love Rachel Higginson and all of the books of hers that I have read. But I was not a fan of this one! She didn't really tell us much background, so the story was slow. I couldn't even get through it. I really tried, but I didn't enjoy it. I love her Star Crossed Series and would recommend it instead. Or Bet in the Dark is awesome too! I wouldn't recommend this one though!

I promise you will stay up all night reading this book! The story is amazing, and you don't find out until three quarters of the way through the novel what the deal is with the main character! My only disappointment was that the 2nd one in the series isn't available yet. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

12 chapters in and still I have no clue what's going on! They keep talking in circles and its pissing me off that its taking soooo long. This book feels wrong. Can't get past the cult/poligamy vibe its hinting towards so I'm done with it.

As always Rachel does an amazing job. Yeah, there's some grammar issues, but she self publishes and her stories are like crack! I can't wait for November!!!!

THE RUSH is not my most favorites of Higginson's. But it was good. It is definitely a different take on Sirens. Of course, I haven't read too many books about Sirens to compare it to. And I think the only ones I have read were mainly about Mermaids. So for a story solely about Sirens, I think is different and unique. And all in all this was a good read. My problem? Gosh, it sounds so weird saying that because I have never had a problem before with her work per se, but with this one I did. I did however have problems with infuriating characters *cough* Kiran *cough* The whole book I felt like there was something I had overlooked from the beginning. Like the answer to all life's problems was dangling before me at arm’s reach and I couldn't quite grasp it. I disliked that I had to go nearly the entire book before we were let in on Ivy's secret even though it was practically spelled out for us the whole time. Sure hints were thrown out at us, but we didn't have all the info we needed, so it all came off as confusing. So I just couldn't enjoy the book like I had hoped to. *Waits for Rachel to wipe clean any evidence of our friendship* I did however enjoy the characters...all of them! From Ivy to Ryder to Chase to Phoenix. Heck I even liked Nix to a certain extent. He definitely added the creep factor to the story and made things very interesting. But Ivy and Ryder were spectacular characters. I loved how they interacted and my feelings were instant for them both. I just adored them. *** This wasn't a kiss. This was an epiphany. My moment of clarity. My salvation. *** A good story that starts out rather slow but picks up speed half way in. It is a book that keeps your interest and eager to find its secrets. Secrets that are well worth the wait. I am absolutely anticipating book 2. I have to know what becomes of Ivy. Will she be able to find the freedom she so desperately seeks and escape the madness she calls life? Guess we will just have to see.

Clever twist ** Rachel has another winner ! Ivy is a young firl holding on, barely to a world she does not want waiting for "18" , and a light at the end of the tunnel, her trust fund! She is being groomed to live in a world where women draw the wealthy, available, hopefully soon to be dying men in, and take all they have. This world is rn by an Evil person, "Nix",can she or will she be ever able to escape him? At school she meets Ryder who seems immne to her beauty and her charms. He befriends her, he is falling for her, but yet cannot fall for her. She confides in him, and he becomes a person who wishes to protect her , guard her, but most of all I think love her! How can these two face the odds set in a world of mythological dangers? Can't wait for the next book in this series.

I absolutely love Rachel's star-crossed series so I had to get The Rush and I was not disappointed!! This has got to be my new favorite! It has a storyline unlike most of the other YA books that I have read so that was new and intriguing. The only problems were a few grammatical errors throughout the book, but other than that, I'm looking forward to the next in the series!!

I am so tired of all the vampire, werewolf, et al. books out there that are available in paranormal fiction. I love a good fantasy/paranormal story, but I am tired of how all the books are pretty much the same story. What a refreshing read, "The Rush" was. I have always loved Greek Mythology and using it as a basis for the supernatural elements of the story was a fantastic idea. That said, I am not the biggest fan of Ivy, she just annoys me personally. But honestly, that's a personal thing. She is well-written and pretty right on when it comes to how a teenager in her situation would act. Great read, and I can't wait for the next book!

I have to admit, I didn't like the main character at first because of the way she acted with Ryder. But, as the story went on i began to like her more and more. .interesting storyline, I can't wait to see what happens next!

When I saw that Rachel wrote about Siren's I had to see what it was about, since I have such a profound love for mythology and anything to do with it. She has turned The Rush into a new age take on everything I have learned and read about when I was younger. I promise if you read this you will not be disappointed!!
