From the Publisher

A timeless German folktale restaged among the cacti of America’s Southwest? You betcha! Kernecker and Watts hit it just right, with lively prose and comical illustrations that bring the animal characters to rip-roaring life.—John Schindel, children’s book author… this hilarious romp subtly introduces the theme of human encroachment on nature through a fun, attention-grabbing story… and the song accompanying the book will have young readers braying, cawing, and howling along.—Foreword Reviews magazine (forewordreviews.com)A lively story of friendship and ingenuity that will have children rooting for the heroes.
