Overview

NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Neil Gaiman's transcendent series SANDMAN is often hailed as the definitive Vertigo title and one of the finest achievements in graphic storytelling. Gaiman created an unforgettable tale of the forces that exist beyond life and death by weaving ancient mythology, folklore and fairy tales with his own distinct narrative vision.

A groundbreaking and award-winning epic that masterfully creates a modern myth of dark fantasy, the Sandman series tells the tale of Morpheus, the King of Dreams. As a being of infinite power, Morpheus has ruled over the realm of the dreaming since the beginning of time. But now after a tragic fall, Morpheus is no more. In the touching and final chapter of this fantastical legend, friends, siblings, enemies and lovers gather to mourn and honor the fallen Lord. Realistically depicting the feelings of loss and despair associated with death, THE SANDMAN: THE WAKE is an emotional tale of remembrance and rebirth.

In the last chapter of the SANDMAN saga, THE WAKE collects issues #70-75.

'...in hindsight, i do not think i loved him. i just felt his love burning and all consuming and reflected it back like the cold moon reflects the light of the sun.'---this is more than a comic book, it is a collection of souls captured in words. the graphics is astounding, but it's the story that got me captivated. i saw bit pieces of my life from the testimonials of the attendees in Dreams' wake...a sunset-colored nostalgia...somewhere in the vast crowd of mourners in Dream's world, i saw myself bleeding for the death of a king.
